Possible DIY for road noise reduction (Gen 1)

Quick video of a few DYI steps to help reduce road noise in the Gen 1 vehicles.

I've personally never been bothered by it but I know others bring it up as a point of contention and it may really come down to which tires you have on it. The 20's AT are much noisier than the 22s that I have.

First I do a window reset at each window to ensure tight closure. Then I installed a small amount of weather stripping around each window and the windshield.



Seems help a little, but again I wasn't bothered by the noise.

I'm fortunate to have the Meridan system, so road noise, or any noise other than what I chose, is nonexistent.

Dynamat is likely going to be your best bet to help reduce road noise.

Yes - I installed in that same channel. Its not a huge difference, but once the HVAC is running and music is on i never notice road noise. I may try that inside the door location too! thanks for the idea.

Depending on the location you may want to use open or solid. In the case of doors and window channels where you just want increased pressure, I'd go with open. I tried solid in the window and it was not good. However for spaces like the roof channels either is fine.

Also note that silicone and EPDM are vastly different materials, and I prefer the silicone results. It should also handle UV/weather better.

The best way I've found to reduce road noise in my Rivian is to drive my F150 ICE truck for 30 or 40 miles. It makes the raod noise in my Rivian seem nonexistent.

For me, the passenger window suddenly doesn't close all the way. It came back from the SC like that, despite no work related to that being done…

Now waiting on a mobile appointment as any attempts at self calibration have not worked.

This video helped me close the gap, the half pull seems to be the difference maker.
