Also keep in mind that by 2025, the battery packs for all EVs will be considerably cheaper, which allows for starting prices to continue compressing.

I really hope you are right, but at some point economies of scale are going to compete with the basic economic laws of supply and demand. We are all on here daily absorbing every theory of why Rivian has botched communications about production delays, and battery supply is near the top of that list. There are certainly plenty of plans for expanding battery production, but by the time they build out that capacity the raw materials production might be unable to keep pace. 2025 seems optimistic to me. And in the next 6-12 months, any vehicle any of us choose to pre-order is very likely going to be more expensive than today's price. We'll see in a few years.

Very interesting presentation with clear expectations of volumes per model through to 2025.
How hard would it be for a startup EV maker with strong financial backing and backed by a legacy auto maker to set clear expectations, project their launch schedules and meet delivery targets. And then be able to launch globally in a matter of 3 years.

Oh wait, NM !:D

Think the Precept is so damn beautiful. Already a fan of Volvo, and if not for the R1S I suspect I’d be in the P*2 right now.

This should be coming out right around the time of my 50th. Happy midlife crisis birthday to me!!!!

The current driving dynamics and performance of the P2 pushed it tonight near the top of my list. Not gonna buy a car, but damn it looks fun.

I almost bought this car in the beginning of the year. Of all the EVs I test drove, this thing is the most fun to drive. Polestar also just announced a 50KW power bump for owners in Europe as an OTA update. This option has not come to NA yet. They have significantly upgraded this vehicle in the year it has been in the market.

My biggest gripe is that giant centre console, which you either like it or dislike it.

Apparently the powers that be aren't that picky if they're asking for multiple first borns ;)
I thought about that, but realized I have a friend with multiple "first borns"; One with each of his wives. When I couldn't make it to his second wedding ("Hello! Rivalry football game!" At least he understood), I assured him I wouldn't miss the next one. I've now made it to three of the four, and all of the kids' graduations.

They’ve said the Polestar 5 will be a $100k+ car.

Actually, it should be quite a bit less. You can triangulate given the volume and revenue numbers in the presentation link. For simplicity, this assumes straight line of model pricing over time, but wouldn't significantly change things if you inflated. You can also solve this multiple ways, but think the below is likely pretty close.

Also keep in mind that by 2025, the battery packs for all EVs will be considerably cheaper, which allows for starting prices to continue compressing.

P2 average sale price in 2022 (only model they will sell) (ASP): $49,231
P3 ASP: $70k
P4 ASP: $60k
P5 ASP: $70k.
