We had a fun day trip yesterday learning to drive in the sand at the white wash sand dunes north of Moab. There are a few square miles designated 'open riding' so you can explore where you want (or dare) to. There are also sandstone features so it creates some interesting transitions. We were out there with a ranger and 4runner and had a blast, and the weather was also great, being in the 60's. I aired down to 30 but next time will probably go a bit lower. After a few hours of playing around I used 20% charge (in maybe 15 miles) so we were able to get home again with without needing to go out of the way to Green River to charge.
The 4runner got too close to the steep side of a dune and it gave way leading to a tricky situation!
I anchored the back and the 4runner winched forward off the ranger to make it out.
