AT is a huge sacrifice.

You guys would be better off having AT and street tires.

I'm not giving up these 21s. I might grab some 20s and put ATs in the garage for offroading.
I had range anxiety early on in 2023 but always enjoyed the comfort of AT tires.

Now with the Tesla network and NACS to CCS1 adapter, my range anxiety is greatly reduced to the point I don't think about it anymore on road-trips.

I just want to make sure the new tires are similar or better compared to stock all terrain tires from an efficiency standpoint.

I will get a second set of wheels for 22" tires that I plan to use during summer or when I want that extra grip. Most of the year I prefer having a nice and comfortable ride even in firm setting which I use 95% of the time.

Another small efficiency update where battery and motor temps were at normal levels, speed was around 40 miles per hour driving to and from one side of town to another side of town using city streets.

I got between 2.3 mi/kWh and 2.5 miles per kWh when driving around 38 - 40 - 45 miles per hour and mainly around 40 mph.

Keep in mind, my tire pressure was still 3-4 lbs low when hot. I expect slightly better numbers once tires are inflated to 50 lbs.

I’ll give another update once I can get my tires to 50 lbs hot. I don’t feel like using the compressor in the car and rather use the self-serve nitrogen tire pump from Costco at no charge.

Are you actually running these at ~47psi? I got the exact same XTM 275/65R20 116T SL from Discount Tire today. Their site says max psi of 36, the print on the actual tire is 44. They filled it to 40, which triggered the low tire alert on the drive home since the system is set to 48. I posted a thread about not being able to change that set point but now I’m questioning if it’s even the right tire to have.

I am running them at 48 psi - 50 psi and sometimes as high as 52 PSI after a long drive.

Here is my most recent run where I charged to 100% and took a long trip around town.

I am charging it back to 100% to see how much electricity is actual replenished.

Any concern running them that far over the recommended psi? I’m curious if the tread will start wearing uneven especially in the center of the tire and and void the warranty.

The stock tire says 44 PSI on Discount Tire website and we inflate that to 48 psi - 50 psi.

I will try to call Pirelli tomorrow about the XTM AT to confirm what they say about max pressure and warranty for Rivian vehicles which require 48 psi to 50 psi.

I spoke to Pirelli and they recommend the LT version for us but that is not out yet. The LT version can be aired up to 80 psi. Keep in mind the lower speed rating

I plan to switch to a different set of tires that can handle 50 - 60 psi.

I would recommend folks wait for the LT version instead of SL version so we can air up to recommended Rivian air pressure and preserve your range.

Presumably the LT will be a heavier tire given the extra ply?
