Forget the R2 for now ... just get on and make the R3X. I'd even buy that prototype.

I really hope they are thinking about how to make the top spec of R3X at Normal. Georgia has so many uncertainties around it, and everyone is screaming "Take my money!" Imagine if Normal focused on just the top tiers of both R2 and R3X. Then wait for Georgia to make the single motor and standard battery versions R2 and R3.

I had similar thoughts, but had not considered the “what factory” part.

But I was thinking of all those priority R2 reservations from existing R1 owners means you have a reservation population with a bias towards a higher-end config.

The current owners bought into a higher, more performance driven market, and they are Rivian fans. They’ll want - they’re more likely to want - higher trims.

This is something I'll be looking for an update on as well. Both cars could have just been there this week in the leadup to the show for press exposure, so I'm anxious for someone who goes on Saturday or Sunday to report back if they are both still there.

Agreed! Creating not only the factory but the infrastructure around it that hasn't had any manufacturing in the vicinity will take lots of effort and even more $$. With the political headwinds with EV in general I think they need to get these new lower priced models out in the market as quick as possible.
