Few more things to add to the list:

Some of the panels are not flush and differ from one side to the other.

Now the driver side window randomly has issues going up. It goes up a third of the way and then back down.

There is a rattle coming from the from passenger door and in general more rumbles in the cablin then I'd like.

Sometimes the door will not open. The handle moves but nothing happens.
I have the same door issue. Pulling the handle to the stop, then applying a bit more pressure works every time. Not ideal, but workable until I can get it fixed for real. That is my truck's biggest issue.

Week 2:

I've had an issue or two with new cars but I think the Rivian has beaten me.

I found some more stuff doing a light dusting this weekend.

Gear tunnel door opens but at times will not fully open, have to close and reopen.

Was not clean when painted? Paint blisters(?) on right rear door left of window.

Alinement on the right gear tunnel door not great and protective film again is shifted to one side so it is collecting dirt.

Armrest buttons are not very responsive. Can't just click them but must push them hard to get them to open.

Right front footwell carpet on outside of plastic panel.

I kind of gave in at this point and stopped looking at the rest of the truck.
Not that it should matter but this is at mile 143.
There should be 6 screws holding the wheel well lining in front of the right front tire and I have 3 of the 6 left and hoping the other 3 are not in the tires.

Opening armrest video:
I sent a video of this to service and showed the service center in person. The button is providing haptic feedback but won't actually make contact until you depress it even further beyond when it clicks.

They checked every vehicle on the lot and they all did the same. Some better, some worse, and said it's normal.

Being normal doesn't mean it's correct. The buttons are clearly defective and should be sent back to the supplier. It should not click until it is recognized as being depressed. That's the entire purpose of the click is to provide user feedback.

Imagine a keyboard for your computer that depresses in and makes the clicking noise but doesn't actually type the letter until you press even harder... You'd have a time of missed keystrokes, just like this center console button.

The Gear Tunnel lining is not quite connected. Is there a clip here?

The hinge for both doors has some missing paint like something hit it but the black plastic on the door side of the hinge looks ok. There is also overspray on the left side black molding, to the left of the hinge, like they tried to fix something after the truck was built.

1664155288199.png

More of what looks to be paint on the drivers side scuff plate.

Hard to see in pic but there are black finger prints / debris under the protective film.

Some small scuffs in the edge of the bed liner spare tire cover.

Truck seems to like to pull/drift right and steering wheel is a few degrees to the left while driving starlight and you have to (ever so slightly) hold it there.

A few more small things.

I found what looks like another white paint spec on the wood next to the phone bay. I'm feeling like they did some painting after some disassembly with parts laying around.
1664551704358.png

The right side protective film is a little high so it not rounding the edge and collecting dirt. I've not tried to clean it yet.
1664549277779.png

It looks like some kind of sealant was left on and then painted over.

Wow! That is horrific. Thank you for sharing. I have worked on assembly line in my youth, and someone is NOT doing their job supervising workers. None of that should have passed inspection. Where is the work ethic in this company?? So sorry. This is the second time I am saying this: I have to reconsider my reservation.

That workmanship is scary. If your within the 7-day window I would return the vehicle for a refund. The assembly quality simply not up to $80k vehicle standards.

Can you email RJ with these pics, this seems insane. I’d seen Tesla issues early on in model Y production but this is on another level. I remember Elon making a comment about Tesla buyers and recommending you either buy the very first batch (because there is scrutiny and higher QC) or buy after the production ramp up, but never during the production ramp because there would be lots of QC issues. I found it funny he admitted to that in an interview.
I’d be really frustrated with this build after all the waiting. Sorry you’re going throwing this.

They could maybe argue that they don't want you to accidentally click it, but it sure seems like bad micro switches. You can click them many times and then randomly you click them and it opens. When you push harder it's more likely to open but it's not like there's a secondary click or something.

I'd certainly be broken by that. Send it back!
This is the second week but I had sent them an email during the first week that I was thinking of returning it and I wanted to know what they were going to do. But this was before I found even more paint related stuff.

I would agree. I probably shouldn't have brought it home but I really wanted to get the truck. When we opened the gear tunnel and there was contact damage and missing paint, of course the guy showing me the truck was saying how it's not really visible. It's inside when the door is closed and yeah maybe if that was the only issue and they were still willing to paint it to fix it but the factory let it go that way, they let it go that way at the service center and tried to give me the truck that way. It is pretty disappointing and I even asked them to take their time and make sure everything on the vehicle was good. I'm not sure what the screws were doing the day that I picked it up but the fact that they came out on a 60 mi drive home and a few miles putting around town is disappointing. And while mostly, all the painted over debris all over the truck is pretty disappointing.

Anyone item on its own isn't really a big deal, but all of it together just weighs on me and I'm spending too much time worrying about what else is wrong. Then there's the idea of spending time off work to take the vehicle to them and then wait a few days and take another day or part of a day to go pick it up and go through the process of what still isn't fixed or what damage was possibly added when they try to fix all this kind of stuff. It's at least a 3-hour turnaround just to go to the service center. Not to mention all the time I've spent documenting issues. Ideally, I shouldn't have to have done any of that and I don't think it's fair when companies don't acknowledge that cost. They want 50 bucks and six or $7 a mile or whatever it is to pick up the truck. I want $75+ an hour to QA their vehicle.

I've sent everything to my contact and we'll see what they say.
