It was nice to be able to make the trip back "home" this last weekend and thought I would share a few pictures.

I got to introduce my truck to my farm.

Took it up Steptoe Butte. It used 7 "miles" to go the 3 miles to the top and we got 3 miles back from regen on the way back down. Sure beats having to jog up to the top like I did in high school.

I should probably mention some details on how the R1T did on the trip. The total trip was about 900 miles and the average efficiency was 2.07 mi/kWh. I ran it in conserve mode for pretty much all the highway driving but used a mix of all-purpose, sport, and offroad on the trip.

Charging went well. This was my first long distance trip in an EV and didn't feel charging really slowed us down at all in that by the time we used the bathroom and grabbed some food it was ready to go. I didn't track the curve during charging, but did notice it was up to 212 kw at one point.

Overall, the vehicle performed great with only a few issues:
  • Driver + availability on highway 395 between Tri-Cities and Ritzville was sporadic and ended up not using it because it kept kicking off saying it wasn't available. There was no major intersections where it transitioned between available/not available and seems odd that the full length of the highway wasn't mapped.
  • The low tire pressure light came on with about 100 miles left to get back home, but the tire pressure was fine. The warning went away on its own after sitting overnight.
  • The worst issue was when I was travelling north on highway 23 in Washington and the vehicle thought it detected a person on the road (showed a person on the screen) and kicked on emergency braking which doubly sucked because there was a vehicle behind me. I have no idea what triggered the detection of an invisible person as there wasn't anything on the road and no person-like objects on the side of the road.
  • Got coal rolled for the first time in Tri-Cities

I hope/assume you did not have an accident when the emergency braking happened?!?

Nope, I quickly "took control" and resumed normal speed though I'm sure the person following me was miffed. They hung back further after that.

That's scary and potentially very dangerous to you and folks behind you!

Is there an option to have the pedestrian alert only without auto brake application? IIRC my Bolt had that feature and I did enable it because of several false alarms/phantom braking due to the false alarms.

That area is among my favorite parts of Washington, namely because it reminds me of home (central plains).

Beautiful pics! Glad your first R1T road trip went pretty well, despite the few issues.

Steptoe Butte was definitely more green than when I went a week or two ago!

Had one this am, kept trying waterworld smoker-me, I was in the AZURE, kept leaving the driver at the light, saw him at work, he was just out of it, that it was electric, I can't wait to get the rivian, way more tourqeedo-y

Haha, haven't stopped by their in a long long time. When I was a kid I spent a fair amount of time at the arcade as well as getting electronic components at the Radio Shack.
