Twice now, my Rivian has let mine drive away with PAAK, only to decide a key is no longer present in the vehicle after I have parked miles from home. Both times a reset solved the issue. Is there a way to prevent this going forward? Is it a hardware defect, or is this yet another Rivian bug I have to live with? Rivian no longer has Gen1 fobs available.

Oddly, the keycard didn’t work to get the car started. The keycard reader might also be broken. Overall, not confidence inspiring. This type of thing happens all the time with Rivian.

I have not experienced this issue, but as a person who always has back-ups, I always carry the fob and the card. The PAAK has not failed me yet, but I'm ready just in case.

Interesting, PaaK is more unreliable for me at home, usually after the truck sleeps overnight, but it is sluggish to do anything after a long sleep, not just unlocking the doors.

My guess is they are trying to reduce vampire drain to as low as possible - a noble cause - but they're making the vehicles unresponsive and difficult to live with in the process.

I've also found PaaK to be nearly worthless since about 2 updates ago. Now it does nothing about 80% of the time, leaving me standing in the rain fishing for the fob.
Also just had to change my fob battery for the 2nd time in 20 months which seems excessive.

The Halloween update changed the sleep behavior to make it more aggressive. The truck now goes to sleep after only 5 seconds. Not sure what it was before, but you didn't need to rouse the truck from a sleep as often.

Im having same issue since Nov update. I have to go into app and wake it up.
My wife did have an issue a week or 2 ago where PAAK would let her in but not allow her to start. Worked fine going to work. She turned BT off/on on her Samsung flip and it started working again.

Our PAAK module failed recently and was replaced. We always keep the key card in our wallets so we weren't stranded, but still not a fun experience.

Had my Bluetooth module replaced in November as well, but still experiencing issues (Gen 1 R1S, Android 15).

I never had the nervous feeling walking up to the car around other people pre-November but anticipate that it won't respond now and open the app as I'm walking up. 8/10 works, other times, I'm awkwardly standing around pretending I'm reading something on my phone until it recognizes I'm there.

Just left the gym, standing outside of the car and had to manually wake the vehicle from within the app and of course, got the dreaded "key fob not detected" message when I pressed the brake. Opening and closing the app a few times usually solves that problem but I've had a similar message while driving (phone never touched).

Hopefully we can swing the pendulum slightly back the other way.

PS: My key fob is no longer operational per Rivian (they can't get it to sync to the vehicle), so my options are getting limited, unless I find one on eBay.

Currently having this problem as well. From time to time, it would say key no longer detected in vehicle. Then proximity stopped working. I thought it was my phone's issue and so I decided to remove the PaaK and now I can't re-add the PaaK.
Stopped by the service center today and they spent 30+mins w/ me to restart the phone, log out, log in, delete the app, restart the car, and all different ways and still cannot get the PaaK added to the vehicle.
However, when I added the service center as a driver, their phone could be added as PaaK immediately.
It's weird, and frustrating. I'm hoping this gets resolved quickly. I do also think that somehow, this may be a backend issue, and was thinking of ways to rename my phone. I also thought of creating a new account and inviting that account as a driver.

I am interested in the resolution too as this happened to me for the first time today but I've only had my R1S for 3 weeks. The key card did fix the issue for me.

Oddly, I was getting messages all day from the vehicle. At one point my radio said it couldn't connect, the warning for parking assistance about vehicles coming from the side said it wasn't functioning and Alexa wouldn't work yesterday. Not sure how to explain all of that and the PAAK issue today but everything worked when I drove it this evening ??‍♀

I have noticed sluggish response to PAAK after Halloween update. I used to have location services to only when app is open. Since adjusting to always on for location settings it works better. But still find I have to reach in my pocket and slide my finger on the cellphone screen to get it to wake up.

You do not say what phone you are using, could be phone related.

Almost 2 years and 28k miles, started with an iPhone 12 Pro Max, replaced that with an iPhone 14 Pro Max and I have never had an issue with Paak in my R1S. I do always have a key card in my wallet as a backup just in case. My wife uses a key card most of the time and has never had an issue with that either.

I see people complaining about PaaK issues frequently, not sure why mine has always worked great. Might be that I have it in my hand and not my pocket when approaching the vehicle and sitting on the console while driving, just do not like it in my pocket.

Edit:
Honestly I just looked at your post history, if you are not a troll I suggest you would be much happier with another brand of vehicle as clearly you are extremely unhappy with all of your post. Everyone of them are negative, if it were me I would just move on.
