In current state, 500A is probably not adding any real benefits as battery will overheat and throttle. I hope Rivian can improve their BMS and reach Kyle's theoretical charging curve.

To be fair it wasn't managing heat well at 450A either.

True. Hopefully they improve thermals and also go full tilt to at least 60%.

Yeeep. I'm a little concerned that he was running into a constraint that's not actively cooled (like a cable outside the pack). No idea though. We'll just have to see what Rivian cooks up.

Yup - we don't know until we can either get temp data or play around with more scenarios. We really need a truck!

Great video @OutofSpecKyle. 100% agree thermal strategy needs to anticipate temperature rise and act sooner. At the end of the day however were only talking about ~10 minutes difference between a good charge curve and a near perfect on a 10%-60% charge session.
I'm becoming fan of all of the Out Of Spec. content.

Watching this, all I was thinking was; should I

Jam twice the energy in R1 battery? or drive something twice as efficient?

Be twice as sensible driving a bolt and pay half the price? or floor it in an R1 with twice the grin being half as nice (to the dude in bolt in the next lane)?

Preconditioning is coming. It will either be automatic via your navigation and/or a button that allows you to start preconditioning. That should help a lot.
Good to know, automatic would be best as I am sure some people would either forget or start the preconditioning too late. There is also the active management of temperature once a session starts which the video clearly showed.

There's a lot of confidence in this statement without a lot of context. Source? Or just assuming it is like the rest of us?
