Agreed. It’s going to be just as important as the vehicles themselves. I’m glad they have a head start on it.

...that were sold eight years (or so) ago. Greater numbers of EVs sold this year won't (much) increase the supply to the recyclers for quite a few years into the future.

i have a feeling Recycling dead batteries will not be a viable large industry for another 20 years. A lot of start-ups are joining the depleted battery fray bidding on EV batteries that are now 10 years old. swapped out or from salvaged vehicles. Solar-tied battery systems are using these tires EV batteries at 50%-80% capacity for built-in backup systems now. This extended battery lifespan for another industry means a steady supply of batteries to actually recycle may not happen for a long time.
