Mine is exactly the same...they said it was fixed as well. There was also a "burn" in the paint where it looked like someone tired to buff out a bubble in the paint where this piece meets the fender, so fixing that too...along with hood needing repainting...which is why it has been at the body shop.
Yikes who is doing the body work? Hopefully a shop you know and trust.

How are people feeling about panel alignment in general? Good or bad overall? I feel almost every panel is misaligned on mine. Here are some of the photos I sent to support.

Wow, that’s bad. That’s the worst I’ve seen anyone post. Rhetorical question: how the heck did that make it through factory QC and final inspection at the SC? That’s more concerning to me than the fact that the assembly line was having a bad day.

Honestly, I don’t think there is a QC team. You either get the A team or the B team…luck of the draw. I’m thinking they are gonna have to concentrate more on this or service centers are gonna get backed up.

The hood should sit flush with the front fenders when it's closed and shifted back. Most of the trucks I see have the hood sitting about 1/4in back from the front tips of the fenders that flank the hood. If you check the top corners of the hood near the windshield the hood is probably rubbing on the rubber trim along the fenders. In your pic it looks like they need to relax the fenders a bit and shim them up. The hood will need to be adjusted and centered once the fenders are in the right place.

My Rig was not as bad as yours but had some of these issues. The Rivian body tech worked on it, added a few scratches and chips, used some washers to shim up the fenders, broke a bunch of trim clips and then gave it back to me. I took the truck to my shop and we worked on it and got things mostly sorted. The passenger door had to be shifted clockwise about a 1/8th of in inch and re-align the door catch.

I would also check all of your door catches to make sure they are lined up with the latches in the door. My truck had a door that was being flexed/bent/forced up a 1/4in on closure because the door catch was not centered with the door latch. This meant I had to slam the door to get it to close and was flex the hinges...which would lead to big issues later with flats spots in the hinges.

The door has a latch < which grabs the catch - on the body. The catch - should line right up with the latch <, but on my truck it was like this <_. Put some blue tape on all your door catches and open/close the doors a few time. The tape should not have any scrape marks, if it does that means you have "door drop" and the catch and hinges need to be aligned. Tesla's have this problem bad...get in a 3+ year old Tesla 3 or Y and listen for squeaky door hinges...thats from the hinges being flexed and flat spots worn. The doors will eventually become wobbly.

...I'm sure the Rivian body techs believe they know what they are doing...but you don't want he young kid with factory training doing this...you want the old grey beard who has actual experience.

Absolutely you did.

Ugh... The whole "better then initial Tesla" seems to be waining.

Is there a thread started for a delivery inspection list for new owners?

Like a list of all things people need to look over at time of delivery.

If Rivian had to chose between ramping up or fixing the process, which one would you (people waiting) want them to choose if it meant an additional year of wait?

I would vote to take the time and get it right. In the long run all the repairs will have a bigger impact on costs, the brand image and customer satisfaction.

My door situation has me concerned that I may end up having to push pretty hard. I mean, I will let them try to replace the door with a new one sprayed at the factory, but if it doesn't match well enough, then no way.

Nope not for me. Would have returned on day 6, or not taken delivery at all. Good Luck - you shouldn't have to deal with that at all - I'm hopeful they take care of you and make it right for your time and effort. Maybe a discount on some new wheels or accessories.

The paint color will vary day to day ever so slightly due to small differences in the paint mixtures. You can't take a truck painted on Monday and swap out a panel painted on Friday, they won't match. You have to blend the paint into other panels so you notice difference less. I would press your guide for a new truck...they are doing that for folks in your situation with MAJOR body issues, they will bump you to the front of the line.

I was just too giddy to finally get the truck that I just didn't care at that point even though I did notice some of it immediately. I also received it with a couple minor scratches that the delivery guy pointed out. And I am pretty annoyed that I received it without a spare tire because I worry that I could wait a long time for that and it limits my offroad adventures somewhat. I'll give them a few days and then start making noise.
But ultimately I will take all these minor issues over mechanical issues (knock on wood).

This truck is probably a victim of the end of quarter rush. Was probably built quickly and shipped out fast. Looks like Rivian is repeating the same mistakes as Tesla.
