As a reminder, I did some actually apples to apples testing. Might want to keep this all in mind before applauding too much. Especially in the high end roll-off.

Is this a limitation of the meridian hardware, or of the tuning? would you recommend trying to offset this performance by tweaking the in-vehicle EQ? If so, would you recommend an EQ setting that you think is best?

This is a good question that I haven't had a chance to really deep-dive on yet. BUT, given that pure white noise of FM radio has the same high end roll-off, I think it's their equipment.
