Thanks for the post , I’m pretty set on the 22 brights . I love the way it looks, we do at least 25k miles a year so the tread life was a concern. Please keep us updated on your new AS plus 3’s

Interesting, thanks for sharing.

For comparison, my 21" road tires: (the spare has never been used; 10/32" = 8mm)

Have not rotated yet, but need to feed a nice flat place to do so.

22" stock tires. 6/32 for 3 tires driving 8300 miles. Front right tire was replaced by Rivian due to premature tire wear. 9/32 on the replacement which has about 2000 miles on it.

All purpose and sport mode. 50/50 between highway and city driving.

Question about tire sizes and cost. I think I have read on these forums that 21" tires cost a lot more than 20" tires. Or is it 20" tires that cost more because of the increase in sidewall dimension?

I pre-ordered with 21" tires and stock wheels (which I'm not super-crazy about) because I want the extra 20 miles of range. I am thinking that I can change to new 20" wheels and tires with a Rivian bolt pattern when it comes time for new tires. Does anyone know if the R1S will get ~320 miles of range with a non-AT 20" tire?

It’s not that the 21” OEM are that much more than the OEM 22” or OEM 20”. It’s that there are no alternatives for those OEM 21” currently vs. Multiple options at lower prices in the other 2 wheel diameters. It’s very possible a lower rolling resistance 20” replacement will get closer to the 21” even though the wheel design on the 21” adds some range in highway use IF you have the aero inserts installed
