RAN question: why the love for Michigan?

Most of the initial development for Rivian was done in Michigan. The original design and engineering was done in Michigan. The original founding members and engineers were mostly Michigan natives. Rivian has deep roots in Michigan so it's not that surprising.

Along one of the most iconic scenic byways in the US, with a TON of hiking and other outdoors opportunities along the whole length. In addition to fitting perfectly within Rivian's brand, the Blue Ridge is an area with woeful DCFC infrastructure.
