I still can't get my speaker out
Mine would not release either and it’s a known issue. Had to schedule a service center repair. They disassembled the armrest and installed a new lock. Pain but it works now.

I'm sure there will be some after market options soon as Rivian grows in popularity. Kind of like Tesla, you can find almost anything for it aftermarket, even the stalks they removed.

And similarly, that will take about 10 years before ownership numbers reach a point where mass production of all kinds of aftermarket accessories are deemed promising enough to pursue. There's a reason most efforts now are home-grown and 3D printed: injection moulds are expensive.

Rivian doesn't need to get to those massive numbers in order for a third party to start making accessories for Rivian.

Any one of these companies that make accessories for Tesla could make Rivian goodies as well, which to your point we'll likely see more of as the brand grows.

There are even phone case/accessory brands like Spigen that make Tesla accessories and have tapped into making accessories for cars. A company like this could easily cook up a mold and start making stuff for Rivian, although an entire storage assembly with rails and injection molding is much different than a storage insert piece, but it's not impossible.

3D printing and making your own is rewarding and I'm all for that.

I went down to University Village this morning and they have a GEN 2 R1S on display. IMO, the best feature is the drawer replacement for the camp speaker. I hope they sell these as an accessory in the shop soon.

This is great. 😍 Love it—will even pay extra to get rid of the speaker and get something we will use every day. HUGE WIN for RJ to do this.

Maybe they'll do a trade-in deal. Rivian gets your old speaker (which you never used) plus $75 (processing, shipping, etc.). You get the new OEM drawer. You're happy. Then Rivian sells your old speaker for $450 to someone who actually wants one. Win. Win.

Would be awesome If someone could make a refrigerated drawer since there is power for the speaker there.
Too small to be useful as a fridge/cooler. However, because it's close to the 2nd row air vent/ducting, if you have AC running, contents will be chilled. Check your armrest console items next time you take a drive with AC on.

Woah, that looks like a really cool solution.
So far so good for me. The fingerprint programming setup was a little confusing but I got it to work. Hopefully I never need to add more fingerprints! Although it CAN store several.

Locks in place just like the speaker. Fingerprint lock is good to have the security (cash, key card, etc.). Plus the added bonus of more storage space.

The painted and sanded finish is not PERFECT - but it’s acceptable, and nobody will really ever see it.

Oh, added bonus, it opens fine above my third-party tray liner beneath the vents (cupholders, etc.)

I purchased this and have been very pleased with it so far
I’m looking at this product as well for a 2025 R1S, are you still happy with it?
