I get periods when there seems to be something loose and rattling around in the back of my T. It can be quite annoying. I assumed it was a suspension issue, but also felt like it might have to do with the tail gate. I even put some rubber pads between the tailgate and the transition piece that sit against the tail gate, when closed. Not sure that really does anything. Here is what I discovered and it may help others with similar issues. The other day, as i was once again examining the tailgate, with the tailgate closed, I gave a little nudge on the fender right about even with the tailgate latch. Well darn, it definitely made a very noticeable creaking noise. I smeared a little grease on the latch and, like magic, the noise went away. Now, I donā€˜t hear it anymore, while driving. Such a simple thing. If you are hearing strange noises coming from the back of the truck, give the tailgate some attention.

Check the gear tunnel doors, spare tire compartment, and bed panels—loose items or latches often cause the rattling. Tighten or pad where needed.
