Installed the 2024.51 update without issue, but now the vehicle has no sound. Nothing from the entertainment unit, no sounds from turning indicators or hazards, no outside lock confirmation chirp. Have tried multiple hard and soft resets.

Posting in the hopes that others who are experiencing the same have found a solution.

Update #1 - Jan 28 -[Spoiler; it's still broken]

Just returned from being out of town for a few days (car was at home), and I tried to get the audio going. Everything is the same as before -- no audio. Tried resets but to no avail. Rivian did respond to my ticket requesting that I call them to provide additional information. I relayed the issue and my attempts to troubleshoot/fix this issue. They did not have any guidance or fixes to offer over the phone, so they booked a service center appointment. First available is May 1, (SF Bay Area) but they said they would try to get me in sooner.

Not thrilled about going without sound/audio/bluetooth phone for the next three months, so hopefully a fix will surface or Rivian will issue a software fix/patch for us. Fingers crossed. Please post your experiences with this 2024.51 no sound issue.

Good Luck!

Update #2 - Jan 29 - It's Fixed!

After talking with Rivian support yesterday afternoon (see update #1 above), this morning my R1S displayed the system update icon on the main screen. The update menu listed the current system version being 2024.51.30 and showed an update ready for the same 2024-50-30; a reinstall. I proceeded with the installation which went smoothly and now all the sounds are working normally. Hopefully, the others of you which are experiencing the same issue can ask Rivian to push out a reinstallation to your vehicle.

Gen 2 R1S, standard audio

Absolutely no sound … no audio, no blue tooth audio, no turn signal feedback, no vehicle lock sounds … nada. soft reset - hard reset - soft reset - nothing. Opened a ticket.

A few days earlier, audio was there when I opened back door to place bag in the back seats, closed door, opened front and silence - no audio.

It was like that for my commute and I tried fiddling with different sources, radio, Spotify, etc and then the screens went dark and changed showing only MPG and navigation map.

I left it as is but at some point I tapped the far left button and everything came back including audio.

This was Tuesday of last week then Friday is when I experienced the total loss of audio following Thursday’s 2024.51.30 update.

For the most recent since the update? Yes - soft, hard, soft - nothing.
The one while I was driving resolved itself

I'll see if I can try that, opened a ticket but may not have seen the part about a chat. Thanks!

I’ve had this happen a couple times but not after an update. Support advised me to do a hard reset. Will see if it comes back.

Most updates I lose nav guidance, it often requires 2 soft resets in a row to come back.

the previous update I had no nav guidance only when playing audible as the source. If I switched sources the guidance would work again. Had an appt set up at service but this new download / update fixed the glitch.

this does make me wonder if for example they could have pushed the previous download to the truck again that perhaps it would have fixed it too since there’s nothing in this release notes that points to them actively trying to fix my specific glitch

Cliffs: maybe they can push the update again to see if it has a clean install maybe it fixes your audio

I'm having the same issue. Since the update I have no sound from the infotainment/nav, locking sounds, turn signal/hazards, cross-traffic warnings, proximity alerting, etc. I've tried multiple hard and soft resets and went through extra steps to ensure the vehicle slept. Nothing has helped. I opened a ticket with Rivian and they've since escalated the issue to engineering. Hoping for a resolution soon or I'm going to need to rent a car for an upcoming road trip.

Thanks for posting your experience. Let us know if the Rivian engineering group has a solution for you.

Sorry to hear about your experience, we're both in the same boat (SUV)

I spoke with Rivian service yesterday morning and explained the troubleshooting steps I’ve already taken (resetting the system, testing different sources like radio, Spotify, Sirius, Bluetooth, and performing a few soft and hard resets). These steps were the same as what they had planned for me to do.

They asked me to put the car to sleep by disconnecting from wifi and said that waking it after 30 minutes might "reengage the systems" and restore the audio. I mentioned that when the vehicle is outside (like at the mall), there’s no wifi, but it’s still connected via LTE. Regardless, I followed their instructions and after 45 minutes the issue wasn’t resolved.

They also noted that other people are experiencing the same problem and want to troubleshoot the vehicle and I’m scheduled to visit their SC in March.

I also requested a refund for my premium connectivity, as I won’t have access to streaming services, only navigation. This is something you should also consider.

Did they refund your premium connectivity? I had that thought, but wasn't going to pursue it unless the issue persisted, which it has.

It's still not working for me. Based on their recommendation I canceled my first appointment as they said they would escalate to engineering. After not hearing anything for a couple of days I reached back out, they had no update and rescheduled my appointment for 2/4. I'll post an update after that appointment.

Push the angle that this is a safety issue, which it is in my opinion, due to the loss of the low-speed warning sound required by NHTSA. Also, the loss of cross-traffic alerting.

Hi Mike, thanks for asking. I haven't checked on it, been too busy at work but I did open another service ticket and asked if they can push the previously SW release back to my vehicle to see if it resolves the issue. I suspect they can't and it's something they'll have to manually upload to my vehicle.

re: safety issue - yes I mentioned that when I spoke with the CSR; that I don;'t have warning or cross traffic indicators. In my ticket to request a SW rollback, I justified this by saying there's been several close calls from me backing out a space and people walking behind and cars ignoring and driving behind me.

Incidentally, I didn't have any cross traffic alerts a few weeks ago and opened a ticket; that was resolved after a hard reset but not until I searched the forums and reading that someone else did that.

My car was gone for repair for an accident. Picked it up yesterday and drove home with all audio. Got home, updated to 51 and no audio. External or internal. External chime does not work, alexa, FM radio, Blutooth nothing works. Did 3 soft and 3 hard reset. Restarted my phone( pixel 7). Disconnected my phone and tried with my wife iPhone.
I have Gen2 R1s.

I think it is a 51 software issue.
I opened a ticket and got a date one month out. Lets see.

Update:

Rivian got back to me and after listening, they pushed a new update which fixed the issue.
The software version still says 2024.51.30, so I do not know what they did.
