My Discount Tire is trying to sell me on the LT version. Has anyone bought the 126 rating or has everyone been going 116?
Been said before. LT if you tow or off-road enough to justify the need for tougher construction (at expense of weight, some efficiency and dollars). SL and XL tires are fine, as long as they meet load requirements. All of Rivian's factory tires for the R1 are 116. Remember, DT sales staff get commission, be weary of up-sale.

I understand the premise of LT vs SL. I'm searching for the anecdotal evidence in this forum, if people are more happy with the LT or the SL, for this specific tire, i.e. If there is an appreciable difference between their efficiency, comfort, road noise, or performance.

You won't find whole lot of data on the SL. They literally just became available around mid-December. Not enough time to log enough miles to give meaningful data, some initial data and impressions are in this thread. 2.0X mi/kWh. Smooth. Good on snow. The rest, what you are trying to validate [against or for DT reco], boils down to fundamental differences between LT and SL. I've not seen people saying they chose the LT Grappler G3. Most running LT are running the Toyos because that's been available longer and this tire wasn't even on their radar. I do recall one member saying they were talked into [by their DT] buying the LT Toyos over the SL for the same reason/motivations.

I have the SL Grappler in the stock size and so far my efficiency has been worse than the OEM Pirellis. A little more hum on the freeway. Good road feel but no increase in efficiency. If anything, they're worse. I'll report my numbers after 1k miles but it's not looking good.

Still not a lot of miles on these, but it’s not looking good for efficiency. 1.73 mi/kWh at 550 miles. I’m starting to think the Toyos would have been better.

Yeah, some serious buyer's remorse here. I'm averaging 1.69 compared to my lifetime 1.86.

I'm close to 500 miles on my Terra Grappler G3. They are the 275/65R20 116 version. There has been a significant improvement on my range within the last 150 miles. My average is now at 2.14. Which is my R1T life-time average. The tires are inflated to 48psi cold. After driving around for a bit, the PSI will raise up to 49-50psi. Curious to see what another 500 miles will bring. Don't be discourage if you average is low when you first get them. I was contemplating switching to the Toyos. Glad I stuck with the G3.

Did a drive down the 101 in SF Bay. Elevation change along the route was negligible (10-50 ft difference) and was traveling between 60-75 mph in AP mode. Last 15 minute chart is giving me optimism but I only have 250 miles on these tires.

Hoping for an update on these and whether anyone else is seeing the improved efficiency after 500 miles? Also, how the noise compares to the OEM 20" Scorpions.
Gotta get new shoes soon and the price on these is decent

My milage is definitely worse. At 2000 miles I’m at 2.02 average. It has been cold and I’m doing a lot of short drives, but seems worse than OEM. I was at 2.11 before I changed.

I just hit 2000 on mine as well. My efficiency is worse than yours. I’m at 1.84. We had some cold during part of that, but it hasn’t been cold at all for the past couple weeks, which is when I got a lot of those miles in. My OEMs had a lifetime 2.14.

Looks like efficiency is maxing out at 2.20. Here is my 1000 mile update. Only drive in AP mode. Very little HVAC use (waiting for SC to fix it. After my previous service it’s not draining so it smells like moldy water).

It took more than 800 miles for my tires to hit max MPK. Is your cold tire pressure at least 48 psi? I would double check to make sure, I usually see 50-51 psi once the tires warm up from driving…you also might reset to get a better idea of what your efficiency is, colder weather prob. dragged MPK down a little too…

I’m going to check my tire PSI tomorrow morning before I head out. I’ve notice 1 or 2 psi on these tires make a huge difference in efficiency. Due to the colder weather we are having in SoCa, I had 2 tires at 47psi and 2 at 46psi this morning.

Thanks for the reminder on tire PSI. Obviously this is tire maintenance 101, but I always forget to adjust my tire pressure between seasons. Just checked mine (OEM Scorpions) and they were all at 44. Increased them all to 48.
