Makes sense. We know their backlog, and we know their production levels. Even with a continued ramp they're not going to clear the backlog this year. Many R1S folks have 2024 as their delivery estimate already.

I think it's good to be more forthcoming on their website on realistic delivery timing (even if it may have a negative impact on new reservations).

That should be accurate. When I reserved in Dec 2021 I was told I definitely wouldn’t get a truck in 2022 and even though I Locke din my configuration in 11/22 I will likely get my truck in Feb 2023. I still feel lucky to get it that soon given how many people are still waiting from 2019/ 2020.

Honestly this is encouraging. As someone who didn’t reserve until late 22 this is perfect not only for time to save financially, but clarification on when I can expect my R1S . It’s way better than s00n. Also gives more time for bugs to be worked out and real world numbers on the dual motors to be seen.

Exactly how I looked at it when I reserved. I just went to work making sure I would be ready whenever it comes. And they will refresh all the delivery estimates at the end of this month, giving a little more clarification.

Website has said that since Rivian first switched to "visualizing" a vehicle back in April (?).

That statement has been clearly wrong for some time now. Back in late October when they issued the new delivery windows they should have changed that "late 2023" to something more realistic. Anyone who is paying any attention at all to the number of orders and the number of deliveries should know that 2023 is highly unlikely for any new orders. (I won't say impossible, because, well, there are always cases like Kyle.)

That said, there is a lot of outdated information on their website - they could be doing a better job of keeping that up to date.

Not surprising. Try reserving any high end SUV right now. I tried to reserve a Range Rover Sport PHEV here in KC, and they told me the wait was approximately 1.5 years LOL.

Glad to see I'm not the only one checking every aspect of the website all the time to see little updates like this, OP. lol. I'm hopeful that this just means there's enough new orders that it's now kicked into 2024. Coming from someone who pre-ordered an R1T 01/06/23, I sure hope I'm close to finalizing an order by this time next year... probably being too hopeful though.

Not trying to make you feel bad, but I have a co-worker who ordered his R1T in Feb of 2022 and he has been driving it for a month already. I ordered my R1S the last week of October 2021 and I have 2024 as my estimate. I live about 25 miles in two separate directions to service centers.

I was originally told "after 2023" and was mentally prepared for 2033. I am ecstatic that I now have "2024" as my expected delivery. I am mentally prepared for December 2024. I am a very patient man when I don't have any control over the outcome. Cheers.
