Bingo. Max pack is about batteries. Tesla CT tri motor is about batteries. Both should see delivered by 2023. It’s a race.

These are touring programs and have to start somewhere. Everyone obviously wants them to start in their hometown. So far you're out $0 and nothing else.

Also they have the data to show these are the locations to start with that will reach as many pre-order holders as possible.

So...test drives and tours start AFTER the "first" July deliveries!! Huh?? That tells me deliveries actually start after test drives and tours...more like Fall.

Glad I pre-ordered a Lightning. They may have pushed me over the line now. I would feel more comfortable about all this if they had a least explained the "whys" for the delays.

I do wonder how many people are going to abandon Rivian for the Lightning now that Rivian's first mover advantage is slipping?

For someone making a reservation today it might actually be faster for them to get an F150, as I assume neither would see a car until fall of 2022.

There are a lot of positives I noticed with the Configurator updates.

1. First and most important! I do not think the delays are major.
   It can be due to the logistics of onboarding crew for mobile service centers across USA.
   It is not easy to set up service centers and deliver automotive product across USA on day 1.
   I do not think this delay is due to production of the actual vehicle, I think they realized some remote locations wont be up till Jan next year.
   I am R1S LE holder in San Diego, booked in late 2019, but I still expect to get delivery in Dec 2021.
   If it turns out to be Feb 2022, no biggie! Waited for two years, two months more is not going to matter.
2. The Accessories seem reasonably priced.
   500USD for wall charger, 450 for cross bars, 150 for Field kit. I spent 2 months on Amazon buying all the items included in the kit list last year when the lockdown started LOL. If only I had more patience.
3. The "Other" 20" all terrain wheel is now included on R1S.
   They renamed the original R1S wheel as the "Bright Option" and I can switch to the R1T wheel without the 1800 Upcharge.

$1800 charge is gone for R1S holders who wish to have R1T 20 inch wheels.

Guessing here: ChIp constraint. Little to no delay for start of LE (a month). Elongation of LE deliveries with them finishing in the spring, and no mention of when non-LE should be expected to start (summer 2022??).

Minor bummer.

The silence on max pack deliveries is not confidence inspiring for those that want it.

I also suspect they are using the definition of deliveries very loosely here. I've asked for clarification. Doubt I'll get any. We will see.

The Rivian VIN chart that was posted the other day showed initial vehicles will start as 22 model years
