I just found a few small changes to the interior today as well. I had screenshots of the configurator screen from a few months ago when I first reserved to compare to the updated ones from today.

I'm not saying these are all negative or positive (that's subjective), but here's what I saw:
  1. No more yellow buckle on the door panel pockets: https://share.getcloudapp.com/4gunY5eW
  2. Floor mats are a different color/texture: https://share.getcloudapp.com/mXurZEDq
  3. Different color stitching on the steering wheel: https://share.getcloudapp.com/7KuoJ2ZR
  4. Different color/material used for the speaker grilles: https://share.getcloudapp.com/4gunY5LB
    • Although, when looking at the backseat view they actually look to have changed from plastic to a metal in the new version: https://share.getcloudapp.com/L1uB5zZQ. So this one is a little puzzling
2 and 4 changed a bit back and were made to more accurately reflect real-world.

TBH 100% honest their configurator is jacked in terms of displaying specifics. I think they forgot a lot of parts (Est Delivery etc). If they didnt and they excluded it on purpose then its a shame we don't get the yellow accents.

The website still clearly describes the following:

Compass Yellow interior accents

Do you all think that the earliest deliveries will align with the cities that have been listed for test drives/tour stops? Based on AdamL's contact, it seems like it's a possibility that there's direct alignment.
I almost guarantee it.

Seattle/Bellevue, we already have a Service Center being put in/nearing completion and they are opening a showroom in DT Seattle.

It would make sense that those cities that they are putting those investments in first, will see deliveries sooner than others.

Unfortunately, the Seattle showroom might be sometime coming - I drove by the location last week, and the current business is still open there. Looking at the permits for the development (yes, I have no life!), there's a fair bit of refurbishment/construction to be done as well....

As a very early reservation holder what I want to know is when will I get my vehicle?

Do I have to wait 6 months more to find out I have to wait another 6 - 12 months? I live in a southern rural state on the east coast, does that mean I should expect my car in (early? late?) 2022 instead of 2021? Not knowing that is frustrating. Will it take Rivian 3-6 more months for them to contact me only to find out I could be possibly waiting months more?

It's about having confidence in what I am being told so I have realistic expectations and something I can plan around. Not feeling very confident Rivian is quite there yet.

I don't know if it is your run of the mill donut though, it is described as "a compact spare that inflates to full size." Even so, at least it also includes the jack with toolkit, jacking puck and riser base. I think the $450 is certainly worth the peace of mind. Only one of my cars has a spare and that is an uncomfortable feeling; especially considering that highway potholes have claimed three of my tires recently.
That $450 can pay for at least 5 years of roadside assistance on my car insurance policy. ?

True, but as it states that is "roadside assistance". I would have to assume if all of your driving on the road you would not feel the need for a spare.

I don't have one in my Tesla but if my Jeep did not have one, I would certainly have put it in there as I will with the R1S. ;)

I want Rivian to be a success but Iā€™d guess more delays are coming. And every month means others are in the market. And since I just placed a 2021 order, Iā€™m not going to hold my breath. Definitely will start to entertain other vehicles. BMW iX could work for the wife.

The V2H may not be available out of the gate with the Lightning. The standards to implement it have not been finalized and adopted. Ford could of course do their own thing, but I find that unlikely.
Implementing it on a vehicle is software and could be done OTA. The hard stuff is on your wall and the interconnect to your utility company is usually where it gets sticky.
Ford has partnered with SunRun on the V2H equipment and install so at least from what I've read, it looks pretty ironed out? Time will tell but seems like Ford has done their homework.

These are touring programs and have to start somewhere. Everyone obviously wants them to start in their hometown. So far you're out $0 and nothing else.
Says the guy from Chicago! ?

I really can't fathom what BMW was thinking keeping the almost universally reviled new grill design on an electric vehicle that has no need for it. Starts at roughly 85k (per Car and Driver), has two motors good for o to 60 in about 5 seconds and an estimated 300 mile range. I find that to be an easy pass, even in the hypothetical case that I was not particularly fond of my wife.

Be realistic, the website says, less than 5 seconds, 300 mile range, has a dealer network for service, styling is subjective, people love the new M3/4 in real life, and your quoting car and driver. I donā€™t make judgements until I see with my own eyes and Iā€˜d bet way more money that BMW hits deadlines, range, service, reliability than a new start-up. But again, BMW wouldnā€™t be my first choice but if Rivian canā€™t get me a March 2021 order until March 2023, Iā€™d be stupid not to look and drive other cars.
