They started to build SA office after May
No clue, sorryOh? Do you know where?
If there is any accuracy to the map location it is planned for West AllisI hope the one shown for Milwaukee is as far west is as possible.
Totally agree and they did have a temporary center for the first few months. It was a poor decision to let that temporary site close months before a permanent replacement opened because Richmond to Brooklyn is a huge area and population to cover. I am very glad they put this map out and the build out through to, I assume end of 2024, is good.I hope that by the time my order is built and arrives that this center is open. Having to drive 100+ miles to Richmond, VA isn't ideal. You'd think that a center in the suburbs of Washington, DC would have been no brainer. At least, Northern VA!
Yet, there is currently a new Porsche Dealership under construction on US 98 in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida.I totally appreciate your frustration, but it’s pretty clear Rivian is applying sound business sense by prioritizing service center location build outs based on where likely $80,000+ Rivian buyers are concentrated.
This absence on the Florida panhandle doesn’t appear to be solely a Rivian conclusion. For example, “luxury adventure” maker Land Rover‘s US website shows they have 18 Land Rover dealerships in the state of Florida today and none of their dealerships are located on the panhandle —- and this is a well-established vehicle manufacturer. Their site indicates the closest Land Rover dealership to Destin Florida is in Mobile AL, about 100 miles away.
Rivian could quite easily do what Tesla did in NM, and open a service center on Pueblo land to get around this ridiculous law. They know this, they have been contacted by multiple reservation holders in NM suggesting they do this, and yet they seem to have no plans to do so, and no real lobbying effort to get the law changed.See what I said in #16. The same applies to New Mexico, where Rivian service centers are prohibited by law.
Come on Rivian? You mean come on New Mexico, join us here in the twentieth century ...
They can’t.Find it interesting, but didn't see any SC in South or North carolina?
Why not?They can’t.
Read the thread.Why not?
Ask the state governments why they can’t. It’s their laws. Why not?
Upstate NY is good, but I think that Rochester and Albany would give much better coverage, and be able to cover northern NY and much of Vermont to boot. Of course, I'm being completely impartial here.Surprised/glad to see two in central New York.
"Easily"? It took Tesla 18 years to open up a service center in New Mexico, that's how "easy" it was. When you have built a multi-billion dollar automobile manufacturer from the ground up, then you can tell Rivian what is "easy". Until then, consider that maybe, just maybe, there are some details you don't know or understand about the situation.Rivian could quite easily do what Tesla did in NM, and open a service center on Pueblo land to get around this ridiculous law.
Dang, looks like I hit a nerve!"Easily"? It took Tesla 18 years to open up a service center in New Mexico, that's how "easy" it was. I think Rivian has shown that they can do the near-impossible by getting this far, and because it's their business to run I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt that they're doing what they can and doing it in what they think is the best sequence for them. Whether you agree with what they're doing or not.
Why don't you just fix the "ridiculous" law yourself? Clearly if everyone in New Mexico agreed with you that would be easy too: Schoolhouse Rock- How a Bill Becomes a Law
