Rivian just introduced a lower end R1T with dual motors. This will help them compete with the lower priced, lower spec’d competition.

Might they introduce a new high end offering with more powerful motors, special paint, and possibly other features like 4-wheel steering, wench, or other desirables?

Perhaps this could be a way to finagle more out of the early reservation crowd. Charge more for more.

What would Rivian need to add to upsell you on a $120,000 truck?

Isn't that like $1.50 U.S.?
Wait, they allow trucks in Canada?

All kidding aside, to your question, I personally don't think the "Adventure community" Rivian is targeting wants a "Plaid", or an "Autobiography", or an "SVR", or an "AMG" Rivian. I think this is an interesting question you pose, but I'm not 100% sold that the Patagonia/REI crowd wants this. $120k,? --not for me. Just my thoughts. Interesting concept though.

Here's a few ideas, your mileage may vary:
- A Luxury package featuring two tone leather seats (probably against their Ethos - gasp!) and with "designer" branding
- Special Edition branding like Jeep does - Moab, Rubicon, etc.
- More powerful Motors
- Larger Battery Pack
- Replaceable battery pack
- Bundled battery pack replacement (after X years or X miles, Rivian installs a new battery)
- Free Charging for life

I don't think they are at the point where they can do high-end fit and finish.

More power? I don't need the power in the current models...I have a friend who wants to tow his Airstream who wants more battery...but more power?

So...significant other features? When I signed up 3 years ago I was very interested in the removable roof, the auto-tinting roof, the autonomous driving capabilities. 3 years on and all of that has dropped. The tailgate features dropped (part of why I switched back to SUV).

I don't really see how a high-end Rivian would work.

The R1T is the high end offering. (Higher price now than a few days ago, too.) There’s very little room and only diminishing returns above the current models. The next move is downmarket.

Of your suggestions, four wheel steering is interesting but probably unnecessary; winch is an accessory, not a SKU, and is utility, not luxury; more powerful motors are utterly unnecessary; and I don’t really see “special paint” happening for a long time.
