Just watched the video, looks like the tailgate is damped, so it’s not going to slam down. Which I’m sure most of us knew. That’s good enough for me, I don’t need a power up or down one.

Is it just me, or does the frunk seem to be pneumatic instead of powered?

Looks pneumatic, but I know they said it was powered. I’m not sure what to believe anymore lol

I just did a quick chat with CS and asked them and this was their response:

"The frunk lid is being examined and that final decision has not been made"

Well that’s disappointing. It seems like they’ve cut a a large amount of their stuff out, they must be having problems with suppliers or just couldn’t get it at the right price. Still excited, but hate to see stuff that was promised be whittled away. COVID could have screwed a lot up for them.

Ha! Well that is interesting indeed. I won't mention who I chatted with, but it wasn't Justin.

I'm not sure that powered is a significant advantage.
Rear powered struts on our Ford went out. $1200 + labor at the dealer. Found parts and did it myself, but still $800+. I wind up waiting for it to open close when I could do it faster myself. Powered is occasionally useful when hands are full, but not something I am thinking is a big benefit with more potential for failure. We tend to keep our vehicles for a long time, and this is the type of thing that can cost a bunch long term. For those of you that lease or trade every few years, powered gizmos are cool and maybe add value. I'm more in the keep it simple camp.

Ha! The CS reps are just having fun at this point. I can hear practically see the special "employee" IM channel they have going when answering questions:

"Hey, I got another dude asking about the powered trunk/tailgate. What answer should I go with this time!?......Should I tell them that the sensors will recognize a specialized goofy hand gesture while standing on one leg?"

I do hope these are hardier electric motors than say what a Model X uses. Busted motorized tonneau would be annoying AND it's not also a table.
