Wanted to share my solution for a phone mount. I got it from Amazon. The link from Amazon seemed large so search “LISEN for MagSafe Car Mount”

I looked at the rear of the screen to make sure the mount would not cover any vent holes or obstruct airflow is any way. The surface is fairly flat from the edge medially ~3/4 in. The mount came with VHB mounting tape on the base. It also came with a spare same sized mounting tape disk. I took that spare disc and applied it to the top of the base. I remove the adhesive disc from the bottom. Then I positioned it near to the top back of the screen. It is recommended that you do not stress the mount for 12 hrs while the adhesive and the mounting surface get friendly. I have included a pic of the back of my phone to show the magnetic disc which I had to adhere. This mount uses the larger of the two. This mount is adjustable side to side and how far it sticks out beyond the screen. It will not adjust up/down. So where one places the magnet on the phone is critical. $27 plus a 10% discount as of today on Amazon. I have not found any cons to this system. It is steady and I can position it so that it does not obstruct the screen and is not behind the wheel and does not interfere with the stalk

I bought both left and right hand mounts from "Riviparts" now "OpenSourceEV" based on their posts here. I am pretty happy with the right side one. The left hand one is certainly functional, but the piece that goes over the console is unattractive.

I really appreciate that they mount solidly and remove without a trace.

Thank you for sharing!
Quick question - how did you attach the holder to the main screen ? Did you used adhesive tape that was part of the package? My concern about damaging the main console ….

Sorry for the late response. I was working the sports car race in Austin this weekend. I used the spare adhesive disc that came with the mount. I attached it to the rear of the screen so you cannot see the attachment area. I have never removed VHB type tape, so I do not know the damage that it might cause. But the attachment point cannot be seen, so I do not worry about it.

@Cale, do you think the mount could be tilted up higher a bit with that rear screen mount, say to 10/11 o'clock vs your current 9 o'clock?

Thanks for the post on this looking like an interesting mount.

Yes, absolutely it could be. If you were to do that, you would loose some range of motion. The arm of the mount would begin to make contact with the back of the screen. And you cannot mount it any higher behind the screen because the screen makes contact with the trim.

But, if you cheat a little and move the mount and attach it laterally, you would eliminate much of the above mentioned problem. If you left only 3/4 or even 1/2 of the attachment tape in contact with the rear of the screen, and rotated the mount clock wise 30-40 degrees, it could work. The VHB tape used has a reputation of having a VERY strong resistance to failure. So I would expect it to work fine. But I would do some test fitting before I committed to the permanent attachment.
