I wish they would make a larger portable power bank that could slot in where the camp speaker/drawer goes. I think the 12v pogo pins can pull about 24 watts. Since they haven’t made it I’m exploring building my own using a custom PCB to mimic the camp speaker and draw out the 12v / 2a power and 3d printing a new case around an existing small form factor lifepo battery + bms system (have an Anker dc 300 on its way to see if it will work for this).

From multiple discussion threads, it's starting to look like a jump pack that has enough juice to wake and keep awake a R1 with failed/failing 12V would need to be one that is substantial. Like the big ones garages and tow truck drivers keep. I don't think my NOCO Boost X GBX45 would even cut it.

You could be correct, but I think the load on the 12V battery is probably pretty low when the truck is on. In fact, when the truck is on, the HVB will be trying to recharge the 12V battery. So all we need is enough juice to convince the truck to start. I think.

There is at least a thread showing jump packs of average size was only enough to unlock the doors.

Exactly my thought. I'm still waiting on mine!

They should be prioritizing getting them out to the people they promised to as soon as possible. If they have them in stock, they need to ship them.

This miffed me so much, I opened a chat.

The representative confirmed that ALL OWNERS should have them by the end of January. So yes, it looks like they actually did get a ton of them and are getting them out ASAP. So I guess that's good?

You need one to power the front end and one to power the back end--like a "hook and ladder" firetruck. The old Delorean was small enough that it could get by with a single unit, but the length and mass of the Rivian requires a second one. Fortunately, the computational power of the Rivian is sufficient to keep them synchronized.
