Right, but at the same time no one knows exactly when Rivian changed the tie-rod size... or if they did. And no one knows how much stronger one can go without breaking the rack instead—10% more? 12% more? Plus, Rivian SC shouldn't be the only place to get replacement ones.
I've had both when I ordered an extra and they sent the old one. Measured, didn't try to install in anger! Old inner tie rods had M14 lower threads, my Mar24 build has M16. Don't know how much that might help. It looked like the new rod would fit the old mounts, but again I didn't try it!

We are working on a few things that will be interesting to you. In other news, we just released our Cybertruck front bumper and it's killer. I am trying to decide if there is enough of a market on the Rivian side for us to make one for Rivian.....take a look here, it's super high quality, OEM-grade - and we integrated winch. Rivian owners want.....?.....let me know

Yes please! We would buy 2 front and 2 rear bumpers if we could. I'm surprised you thought there would be more market for the cybertruck than Rivian. I see a lot more photos/videos of Rivian's out in the wild than cybertrucks, but maybe that's just because Rivian's have been out longer and marketed more directly as an "Adventure" vehicle.

I'd like front and rear bumpers that stick out just a bit and can bump (not crash into) things like trees and rocks and shopping carts without totaling the vehicle ;) but not necessarily extra stuff like winches and lights.

Given how Rivian Service has behaved with some non-traditional mods, it's entirely possible they wouldn't be willing to road-test or work on a vehicle with a steel bumper if someone needed service.
That is a given though, with any aftermarket mod. Owner assumes full responsibility over non-original equipment, regardless of vehicle brand. Yes, some are more lenient than others, but it's not the norm or law.

Coming from the Toyota community, they straight up didn't care...though part of that could just be the number of modded rigs here in Colorado vs elsewhere. But unless they needed to remove mods to do the work, they really didn't care at all. And if it was in the way, they'd ask if you wanted to remove them yourself of pay to have them removed and reinstalled after.

Right, but look at size (and revenue) of Toyota compared to Rivian. Which is better positioned to eat such costs?

Retailer, not originator or manufacturer. And those who have factory reinforced under body shield (part of off-road package) don't need it. What is really needed in both configs is projection for the fake skip plate that is part of the bumper (or a whole new aftermarket off-road ready bumper). Unless bumpers skin become cheap and readily available for purchase—essentially a low cost throw-away—which is not the current-date situation.

Downside of a whole new bumper is: If you look at the factory part, it's also almost the entire front facia. An aftermarket one won't be easy nor affordable.
The top and bottom halves of the fascia can be separated, but it's not exactly easy.

There is not enough room behind the stock fascia for a winch without replacing or cutting up the crash bar. To open up the wheel in the front like Rivian did on their prototype is going to involve cutting up the wheel liners.

You'll lose the ultrasonic sensors with a full replacement, but moving them to a new bumper with accommodations for them wouldn't be that difficult.

Overall it'd just be quite an involved and time consuming process. Not very DIY friendly. EV Sportline doesn't seem to mind working on customer cars though, so who knows.

From what I can see with Google... that's a 14% increase in minor diameter (excluding threads).

Yup, would also be interested!

Yes!

I’m installing my RIVAL skid plate this weekend, but what I really want is a winch bumper!!

Can’t wait to see this come to market! Let me know if you need any trucks to help make this come true!

Do it. Please. $2500 is reasonable for sure.

Interesting. One outstanding question for a Rivian winch-bumper is where to get power from. Supposedly the early trucks actually have power lugs on the distribution block that were designed for high-current loads. Rivian themselves were supposedly working on one and it appeared on a test mule in early 2022, IIRC, but never came to market along with some rock sliders. Given how Rivian Service has behaved with some non-traditional mods, it's entirely possible they wouldn't be willing to road-test or work on a vehicle with a steel bumper if someone needed service.

Nice skid plate. Funny to see it being put on a Rivian with stock all season tires for taking on all the rocks and trails.🤣

The stock 18ah battery won't run a winch, especially a 12k needed for the Rivian so an aux battery would be needed with an isolator. All looks like nice stuff though. Tempting
