Recently drove my Standard+ (121kwh software limited) dual motor from NH to PA. This is my results and efficiency.

Southern NH to Philadelphia
Total Mile ~ 720miles
Total car time - 14Hrs
efficiency 2.11mile
Total energy used = ~ 340Kwh
Public Charging cost = ~$85
Free Hotel Charging (slow)

Gas prices right now average about $3.40/gallon. Had i done this drive in my wife's Subaru, which gets above 27.5 miles per gallon, I would have saved a little time, stopping twice for gas vs charging, but the gas cost would have need similar if not higher.

Thanks for this. Amazing that the standard + is 10% larger than the new large!

Fun! I am leaving with my family on Thursday to come up from Northern VA to Barnstead (just north of Concord near the lake) until Tuesday. If you see a blue R1S that will be us! We made the trip last year, but really looking forward to doing it this year with the Tesla adapter.

It's really 135-ish KWh total, I.e the old Large, but software locked to 121Kwh. The new Large is a Max- ;)

Yeah the Mountains and lake regions of NH and into Maine are the only reason why having access to tesla makes sense for me, it's a bit of a charging wasteland up that way for non-tesla drivers.

I'm closer to Portsmouth than I am to concord. I'll keep an eye for you, I'll be the forest green and waving at you like a maniac (LOL) enjoy your trip.

We do a day trip to Portsmouth each time we're up there. Some shops we like to go to, we like to have lunch there, I always hit the liquor outlet for bourbon

Just completed a 2200 mile road trip from San Antonio to Chattanooga and back. Stopping every couple of hundred of miles to limber the old bones and charge, worked out well. No complaints, would not have done this trip without the Tesla system and my A2Z adapter. I20 between Jackson MS. and Birmingham AL is a dead zone for fast chargers, even the Tesla drivers were complaining about it.

I'm a little suprised your dual motor only achieved 2.11m/kwh

I was under the impression the Dual motors were much more effecient than QM.

were your average speeds pretty high on the Freeways?

Yeah, I expected a better for a dual motor. I was doing 60-80 mph most of the highway even though my average speed ended up at 51mph.

It was 2.21mil/kwh driving south, the return drive north lowered it. Speed and elevation likely the biggest factor.

My Office and Factory are located in the area. Less of a "visit" and more of an obligation

My dm R1S isn’t much more economical than my quad R1T is -especially at higher highway speeds. (Both have the Large battery and 21” wheels.) I was expecting a bump up but it has not happened. Perhaps after the new R1S tires get a few more miles on them things will change some.

Interesting, totally not what I expected,

Do you find the R1T more efficient than the S?

My QM R1T has 21's and I took off the aero covers day 1.. I Drive around in All purpose mode all the time minus long drives. I don't hyper mile or try to drive super efficient at all.
I am averaging 2.4 mi/kwh over 3,200 miles.

I would of thought a DM R1S would be like in the 2.7-2.8 range

That's too high for something this large. My Mach-E was getting 2.4-2.8 for similar highway efficiency. But I would have expected 2.2-2.4 in this.

Speed is the main factor.. after 55 is when the Rivian falls off a cliff because of Aero.

If you're flying down TX roads at 85 you're definitely going to be draining that battery fast

on paper the 315 miles of range out of a 121 Kwh usable battery is 2.6 mi/kwh

When I'm driving at city speeds 35-45 and catch green lights. my effeciency is in the 3's easily.. (It could be mental but after I turned of Regen assist I feel like I get better effeciency as well)

Funny story I had an E-Tron prior to the Rivian, and always got around 2.7-2.8 Highway. I was out of town for 2 weeks and lent my SUV to my GF. She DD'ed to work for that period and over 1000miles she averaged 3.2 Mi/kwh I was blown away.. so YMMV
