Looks great! Hope you like your new tires! Thanks for the response @B Digs.
Got them mounted today! (Also scheduled an appointment with the SC for December to get them calibrated)
I don’t get it, 21” to 20”? Rivian offers two 20” size tiresSwitched from 21s. Had the
Rivian updated the software yesterday from 21s to 20s. Efficiency to date:
Can you go into the truck info page and send a pic of what wheels it says you have?it is what Rivian recommended and (related) it would provide more accurate range estimates. I of course could be mistaken.
My assumption is that the setting would be essentially the same as the Gen 2 T with the same tires.
I'll see what Rivian says and if I hear back will post it.
Spoke with a couple of people in service and they confirmed that the Gen 2 size 275/60/20 AS Goodyear tire is the ideal setting but isn't available at this time for Gen 1 vehicles (think B Digs has gotten the same response) and that the 'closest' setting for now would be 275/65/20 AT (and that is what my software is set to). They indicated that the change wasn't necessary and either setting would be fine (and not hurt the vehicle) but they currently set it to the 275/65/20 AT until they can update the Gen 1 software settings (not sure when that will happen).Yeah if they did the change to the Gen 2 size 275/60/20 AS Goodyear tire then that’s great to hear. But if they did it to the 275/65/20 AT size then they did you wrong. Let us know thanks.
If you were coming from the 21" wheels, they should have left the software unchanged as the diameters are nearly identical...Spoke with a couple of people in service and they confirmed that the Gen 2 size 275/60/20 AS Goodyear tire is the ideal setting but isn't available at this time for Gen 1 vehicles (think B Digs has gotten the same response) and that the 'closest' setting for now would be 275/65/20 AT (and that is what my software is set to). So the closest setting is making speedometer and odometer off by 3%? It's acceptable, and preferred, to have 1500 miles of a 50k mile warranty be phony? That's an absurd response from them.the 'closest' setting for now would be 275/65/20 AT
I assume Rivian would prefer the guessometer to be closer to reality than speedometer or odometer, to prevent people from complaining about their vehicles getting "less miles" than estimated by the vehicle. If you were coming from the 21" wheels, they should have left the software unchanged as the diameters are nearly identical...
Here is the difference now that they have updated the software.
Hopefully Rivian will eventually allow the software to be updated to the new size.
Posting results after waiting ~1500 miles. I drove 360 miles on Sunday and averaged 2.24. On the same drive ~3 months earlier (albeit in warmer conditions) on 21s, my average as 2.44. I think that's pretty decent. Honestly, I didn't expect much better than this.Wait till 1k miles for tires to break in before posting efficiency.
I saw these again this week picking my truck up, they're sitting in my DT cart staring back at me with those sad kitten eyes. Damn it @B Digs why did you make the perfect tire? What's am I to do with my old tires?
Nice! Glad to hear you like your "new" tires!Quick update on my 20" Goodyear - can not be happier Went from 21"
So after almost 8k, I am down to 10/32. All 4 tires wearing the same, so not sure if I will do a rotation. Average consumption - 2.3 miles per kWh, so 5% less than what I was getting from 21". As a reminder, 21" after 17k miles were down to 6/32.
Yep, will still do a rotation but just a bit late than usual. This is really connected to alignment - I have near perfect alignment (after few tries SC nailed it), this is why the wearing is even and very minimal.Nice! Glad to hear you like your "new" tires!
Tough call on the rotation, but might be helpful for longevity even if all 4 appear to be wearing the same.
They suggested that I order from Tirerack.com which delivers to Discount Tire for installation, they are the same company.I went to order these from Discount Tire, but all they seem to have is the Wrangler Territory HT (not AT) in the 275/60/20 size. Does anyone else have this issue?
