Is it an EV tire with low rolling resistance and sound deadening foam?
The ones I have o. My 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit Reserve 4xe are low rolling resistance but no foam. Not sure about the new 275/55-21.

Michelin site doesn't show this size. I wouldn't cancel unless i can confirm with their customer service

Nice to see future options for the 21”
I’m still hoping for an off-road tire option or at least an All Terrain.

What happened if you put 275/50/21 instead of the original oem size of 55?
Thinner side wall and a smaller overall diameter. May throw off your odometer and affect your range reading, even suspension

The Michelin Defender LTX M/S 2 275/55-21 is apparently a chimera, at least for the time being. This may be a naive question, but why isn't the 275/50R21 an acceptable alternative?

The OEM is 32.8" compared 31.8".

So you would have 1" less of height. The price difference is 50$ less. So not really a huge cost savings.

The real question is will the tread wear be less? That would be a question for someone riding the defenders on the 20"s

Absolutely agree that the cost differential is small and immaterial, but at present, isn't the real issue that one is available, while the other is not?

Another naive question: What is the real, effective impact of the lower height of the smaller tire? I understand that it may throw off some of the vehicle's readouts, perhaps no small thing, but other than that, what? Range? To what extent?

Regarding 20" tires. there was a recent thread about someone replacing their PIrelli AT's with the Michelin AS and getting great range. Nothing yet about treadwear; guess that will come in time. Interestingly, there were several posts about tire retailers unwillingness to mount the Michelins on the Rivian, with several, including Costco, declining to do so. Wasn't clear what the issue regarding mounting was. Possibly load index?

According to the summit link posted above (https://www.summitracing.com/parts/mhl-09565#overview) the 275/50-21 have a lower load index at 113 compared to the stock Pirellis at 116. Thats about 220lbs difference per tire. Is that enough? I dont really know anything about tires.
