Nationwide Insurance increase

My renewal just in. Nationwide just changed from yearly term period to 6 months, and my rate doubled. Charging actually more for the 6 months than the previous year. Accident and violation free, and I am the agent. Guessing Nationwide has reevaluated the rating risk for increased repairs of the EV line. I am not alone here, I am sure.

Curious, is yours through Rivian or direct through Nationwide?

Just got our renewal via Rivian insurance (which is Nationwide in CA) and it’s up 45%.

I was an existing Nationwide customer, my only option was to continue as direct through Nationwide. By the way I neglected to mention I am in Florida where we are getting hammered by rate increases for everything insurance! Ugggh!

Rivian insurance doubled and our other cars stayed the same, they are 1/2 the price for our r1s.

Both my homeowner and vehicle policies are going up 50% at renewal with Nationwide (via Rivian Insurance). Unfortunately, I've also been shopping around a bit and not getting quotes any lower from anyone else.

Evidently Nationwide is strategically pricing themselves out of certain areas/vehicles. My Nationwide homeowners policy almost doubled here in Texas (with ZERO claims). Went with AMICA instead

Switched to connect through Costco I’m about to come up to my 4th renewal in march but I started with RIVIAN’s nationwide for 2 6 month periods and they went way up, connect was 1/2 the cost. The homeowners I left with travelers so no home / car discount on connect and still cheaper

Here in WA, it would seem, Nationwide will not issue insurance through Rivian without also covering your home. I refused to give up my homeowners for a variety of reasons. I am not sure this is entirely legal...I'd stay away from Nationwide. That said regulators approved a big hike in rates here, so not sure who will be immune.

Industry wide premiums went up 36%. Rivian/Nationwide has coverage options others typically do not; like new car replacement and off-pavement use. Most would only give you market value if totaled and will not cover off-pavement use. You can lower your cost a bit by revisiting your policy online and adjusting your coverage levels and deductibles. Other insurers may quote less, but you are also covered less. I was able to lower my month by about $40 through increasing my deductible. But still evaluating whether I want to switch to State Farm for less coverage and far less annual cost.

I'm in Northern California and was with AAA but switched to Rivian/Nationwide when I got my R1S in September becuse it was about $75.00 a month cheaper. Just got my renewal and my 6 month policy went up $550.00!! This is with no tickets or accidents! I feel like they did the old bait and switch. I can't get Costco car insurance in California so I may go back to AAA, just waiting for my agent to call me back. We have our homes with AAA.

Are people seeing these rate increase with bundled insurance? Not up for another few months so curious if they are rocking the boat for all customers or not. Assuming its a total calculation and not just a sum of the pieces. TBD.

Well, when the wind bows your garbage can in to the rear quarter panel and Rivian says you need to replace the whole side of the vehicle for $42k you get skyrocketing insurance rates.
A $2K replacement windshield and $3.5K replacement glass roof doesn't help either.

Rivian made an excellent vehicle, but they put zero thought in to repairability and that shortcoming is now biting owners in the butt via ever increasing insurance rates.

In CA, AAA was the only reasonable option…hopefully that doesn’t change…
