Why do I see my configuration in the R1S shop

I don't understand why the shop has R1S's that are the exact order for members and then pick up by someone who order much later than you?
Couldn't Rivian just contact a member who had ordered that car?

I sort of wonder if it is worse to be in a tech-mecca like Austin in that the local SC is probably over capacity to begin with, so adding a bunch of shop orders would make it worse. No idea if that's so, but I've asked to get shop access and been denied despite seeing plenty of my builds in these shop posts.

The shop inventory changes based on delivery zip. Ok the East Coast, Richmond VA has the largest inventory of Shop vehicles. I grabbed my second R1T from there last week, delivered to NC Tuesday this week. There were 100+ in the shop.

Flip the address to Florida and I had 15 options.

I agree that matching is likely very manual at this point. If you see what you ordered, you should grab it. Then your build will end up in the shop for the next guy once it’s built.
