Glad to hear that you and your kids emerged relatively unscathed from what looks like a significant impact.

Glad y'all are safe!!

Must be at a very high speed for a Rivian to sustain such a damage, what's the situation of the other car(s) involved? Hope everyone walked away
yes according to the police, the driver was going incredibly fast and not looking at the road 🙈
Miraculously, there were no fatalities in any of the other cars.
All the other cars were completely totaled though.

So glad you all walked away!

The scientist part of me is noticing what I have seen in other photos people have posted after accidents in their Rivians: that entire frunk region is a giant crumple zone. From a "make the vehicle go" perspective, there is no reason for any EV to have the traditional vehicle shape. (That's one reason I continue to like the appearance of the Cybertruck, despite the contrary, and well-founded, opinions of so many friends on this site--if nothing else, I like the outside-the-box set of design decisions. But I have no regrets about choosing the R1T when it came time to write the check!) But that space really absorbs energy from the sort of head-on collisions that are killers!

So sorry your great vehicle is totalled, but I bet you don't mind it one bit, considering the alternative!

Post a picture of the replacement--which I presume will be another Rivian!
The CT is ugly, let’s see how the Lucid Gravity does. The design of that vehicle is centered around performance and space and not beholden to ICE designs. It will be interesting to see if it sells well despite its looks.

Wow! Glad everyone's OK. Did you take pictures of the other car?

Man. Thank God you guys are OK. I have a wife and two boys age 6 and 4 and am very fearful of something like this. Drivers are getting more and more distracted. Just in the last couple months my brothers model X and friends Model 3 were both totaled by distracted drivers. In the case of my brother, the driver ran a red light and T boned him.

Amazing how many stories we hear of Rivians holding up amazingly well in accidents. It’s something that more people and potential buyers should be aware of.

So happy to read there were no serious injuries or fatalities. Hope the insurance process is as smooth as possible.

I was getting off the highway and someone ran a red light which caused me and 3 other cars to get into a major accident. I'm so thankful I drive such a strong and safe car, me and my kids came out with virtually no injuries.

Time for a new Rivian.

Wonderful news. Rivian undersells its safety ratings. Safety does sell. Drive well when the replacement Rivian arrives.

This is where physics helps us ... 7,000 lbs with low weight distribution.

Glad you are OK. Don't get me started on red-light jumpers. ... saw one the other day and cop car who was also at the front of the lights did f*ck all about it. I felt like giving chase.

This person owes you a Rivian. Make them pay up.

I'm so glad you and the kids are okay - You don't say how old they are but it can be traumatic even if they're not hurt. It's a scary thing at any age.

Here's my list of stuff to pull from our R1S if the worst ever happens to us too. From the photos I'm guessing that nothing that you might have had in the frunk will be salvageable, but this list may help you remember something:

Frunk
  • Frunk Divider
  • Frunk Net
  • Instacrates
  • Cooler
  • Tempo Temperature Logger
  • Charging Adapters
  • Umbrellas
Inside Front
  • EZ Pass
  • Flashlight
  • Camp Speaker
  • Floor Console Divider
  • Floor Mats
  • Magsafe Phone Charger
  • DriveCam SSD
  • Contents of Center Bin
  • Glasses in Driver Under Seat Bin
  • Umbrella in Passenger Under Seat Bin
Inside 2nd Row
  • Charging Cables in Seatback Pockets
  • Blanket Between Seats
  • Floor Mat
Inside 3rd Row
  • Floor Mat
  • Charging Cables in Armrest Bins
Rear
  • Protective Rear Mat
  • Tie Downs
  • Rear Storage Lid
  • Portable Charger
  • Rear Storage Divider
  • First Aid Kit
  • Compressor Hose
  • All Tools, Pucks, Jack, Gloves, Extension Cords
