yes according to the police, the driver was going incredibly fast and not looking at the roadGlad y'all are safe!!
Must be at a very high speed for a Rivian to sustain such a damage, what's the situation of the other car(s) involved? Hope everyone walked away
The CT is ugly, let’s see how the Lucid Gravity does. The design of that vehicle is centered around performance and space and not beholden to ICE designs. It will be interesting to see if it sells well despite its looks. So glad you all walked away!
The scientist part of me is noticing what I have seen in other photos people have posted after accidents in their Rivians: that entire frunk region is a giant crumple zone. From a "make the vehicle go" perspective, there is no reason for any EV to have the traditional vehicle shape. (That's one reason I continue to like the appearance of the Cybertruck, despite the contrary, and well-founded, opinions of so many friends on this site--if nothing else, I like the outside-the-box set of design decisions. But I have no regrets about choosing the R1T when it came time to write the check!) But that space really absorbs energy from the sort of head-on collisions that are killers!
So sorry your great vehicle is totalled, but I bet you don't mind it one bit, considering the alternative!
Post a picture of the replacement--which I presume will be another Rivian!
Wow! Glad everyone's OK. Did you take pictures of the other car?
you sound like my husband but yes the front really absorbed all the impact. and the car is so heavy that I thankfully didn't flip over either. So glad you all walked away!

What can I say, boys will be boys...you sound like my husband but yes the front really absorbed all the impact. and the car is so heavy that I thankfully didn't flip over either.
and definitely getting another rivian! thinking of getting it in blue this time
Wonderful news. Rivian undersells its safety ratings. Safety does sell. Drive well when the replacement Rivian arrives.I was getting off the highway and someone ran a red light which caused me and 3 other cars to get into a major accident. I'm so thankful I drive such a strong and safe car, me and my kids came out with virtually no injuries.
Time for a new Rivian.
