I decided to jump on the bandwagon and print my own MagSafe charger pad for the center console. I made a 3D scan of the console using RealityScan app for the iPhone and then modeled the MagSafe pad in Autodesk Maya. I gave it the same Rivian logo pattern that the console has. I think it came out pretty well. This uses the Apple MagSafe pads. I still need to do some cleanup on the print (sanding).
Print Using ABS, nozzle temp at 230, bed temp at 96. Make sure to print with a Brim and support on the build plate.

Nice job. I like the simplicity of the design. Will this work with different phone sizes?

My DIY solution with styrofoam :) I agree doesn’t look cool but functional.

Able to wireless charge iPhone 14 pro every time…..

Lol, this feature is such a total fail. I know there's rumors of a redesign, but how has Rivian not addressed this directly like they did with the tonneau?

I'd guess because they don't plan on retrofitting the update to previous trucks under warranty.

I'm a 3D printing n00b, but why ABS and why not TPU? It seems like it would be softer and mimic some of the feel of the original pad.

When it stays connected, it is quite fast. At least 15w.

Thanks for sharing!

Did you prototype with the item extending the full depth of the stock mat? I would think having a flat surface would be better than a ledge ~1" from the pocket. I was curious if this was tried?

Looks really good. What keeps it from sliding forward? Are you applying double sided tape? Are you printing it face up?

I will tell you that face down definitely didn't go so well on mine 😅

I'm going to try face up instead, or maybe try to edit this to make the top flat instead of with a pattern. Unless @kozak79 already has a flat top one?
