So the free RAN charging you get with referrals is capped at 3 years. I read the fine print and I think it's 3 years no matter how many new Rivians you buy. Anyone know for sure?

Three years is a long time... I have a year, but dont live close enough to charger to use it. I might get lucky and use it two or three times before it runs out.

36 months according to this paragraph

  • Validity: Charging Rewards are valid for six (6) months from the grant date. The maximum lifetime benefit for any Referrer is thirty-six (36) months of charging on the Rivian Adventure Network. When additional Charging Rewards are earned, the expiration date will extend by six months from the most recent grant date.

Well that’s a bit of a bummer. I’ve got two referrals pending about a month apart, I thought I’d have 12 months of charging, I guess it will be 7 months.

My interpretation of it is you get a total of 36 months worth of free charging then no more. So that is 6 referrals. After 6 referrals no more free charging and you only get points (unless Rivian updates the terms in the future which they can certainly do).

So 3 years from when you got your first referral. So if you got your first referral in December of 2024 and assuming you get the subsequent referrals before the free charging runs out you would be able to potentially get free charging until December of 2027.

Again this is my interpretation and Rivian can change this at any time of course.

6 mos charging stacks one after another. My 1st R1t gave me 6mos., 2mos later I bought another one and referred myself. (+12 mos more.) So I get 6mos, then on the date that six months is up I get the next 6 mos, then when the second date is up I get the third 6 mos., for a total of 18 mos continuous from 1st purchase.

Did you use your own referral code for trade-in? That sounds like cheating.
Um Rivian’s interested in selling $70k-$110k+ vehicles. I doubt they’re gonna blink at 3 months of charging and 1/2 a set of crossbars.

Didn't trade anything in and it's our first Rivian. Used a referral code for purchase and have since had two people use my code. So we have 18 months of RAN charging and hope to get more.

I always find it funny that a lot of EV drivers assume nobody uses DCFCs because they don't. We road trip a lot and DCFC a lot. Different strokes for different folks.

Yes that is correct 3 year lifetime max.
Thanks. That's what I assumed. Now I'm wondering if we get an R3 in three years if my wife can be the owner of the vehicle and use her own referrals to get free RAN charging.
