I found that the newly released Mophie MagSafe vent mount actually works well. Just not in the vent. The little hook can slide under the dash leather and get hooked up there.

There is two versions, one powered and one not powered.

It’s quickly becoming apparent that without CarPlay being able to safely see my cell phone for nav/traffic apps, stored music, streaming, etc. is going to be very important. Vent clips are a nonstarter due to vent design and automatic movement. I don’t want to do anything that would permanently damage the dashboard.
Here is my favorite. It takes up a cup holder but fits great.

I also used the riviparts mount. Since I have an android, magsafe isn't an option so I needed a different wireless charging option. After some trial and error I found the "joyroom" (https://a.co/d/2wNA8de) auto clamping wireless mount. It sits high enough to not interfere with any controls. Some of the similar options sit much lower or stick out too far and get in the way. The steering wheel still blocks some of the view but it works well and is good for using Waze as a complement to the built in nav. The auto clamping is really convenient.

We've played with quite a few, from magnetic, gravity cradle, to fan cooled mag charging. Once you get a ball mount in a position of choice your options are endless. You can add risers of any length if desired and chose whatever phone holder style you prefer. These are all various configurations we have personally used along with our Dash Anchor Ball Mount.

I see a lot of people complaining about the phone sitting too low with riviparts 17mm ball. Any reason you couldn't just raise it up with a simple 17mm extender like this?

You definitely can use something like that, but your device will shake and bounce more. Mounting directly on the Riviparts mounts is really solid. The new Evo mount does help lift it up a little more, though I am still partial to the left side mount which is out of the way of the steering wheel more.

None at all. Tons of people have a setup just like this.

Also - there is an updated version that we now sell which raises the mounting location up and (maybe more importantly) to the right, basically making this a non-needed item.

More details here: https://opensourceev.com/products/phone-ball-mount-evo

The reviews so far on it are really, really, really good. It's the only one like it in the market.

Another successful Riviparts ball mount > Spingen Magsafe charger, Scosche OBD II port to USB adapter install. Works great, easy install and no wires hanging to the center console.

I used the everyamp phone mount dash anchor wtih 17mm ball, an extender and used a flat usb cable under dash that made for a very clean install (IMO). Power is from obdi to usb adapter. I did use a rubber strap thing used for bike lights (https://www.amazon.com/Silicone-Fastening-Flashlight-Stretchable-Accessories/dp/B09S32VZDB/ref=sr_1_23?crid=2VZS6W3HTLT7D&keywords=bike+rubber+loop+strap+for+light&qid=1695238643&sprefix=bike+rubber+loop+strap+for+lig,aps,148&sr=8-23) and tucked the flap end under the dash which eliminates any vibration and allows the phone to be up high enough to see well. Since I didnt use my Riviparts mount with extender and 17mm to 17mm ball if anyone wants it, its yours for $20 to cover shipping (USPS small priority box).

I have the same setup but looking at your pic, where did you route the Spigen cable through the steering wheel dash exactly?

I bought a 3-d printed piece with a ball that friction mounts between the center and driver displays.
I found a magsafe charger on amazon with a ball joint attachment to clip onto air vents and discarded the vent clip and attached to the ball on the 3-d piece. Ran the wire down and plugged it into the 12v port under the center console.

3-d printed part from riviparts. If you search for "rivian 3-d printed phone mount" there are also options with slightly different designs, but same basic idea: https://opensourceev.com/products/phone-ball-mount-pro

This is the charger: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08Y2CXKG5/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

If you extend the steering out completely then down as far as you can go, you will see a slit in the vinyl column boot that you can feed the cord through. Use a coat hanger or flexible rod to poke it through under the dash. I secured the scosche power converter to the top aide of the cover panel where the OBD 2 port is located with HD velcro. Then just used some zip ties to secure the wires. So far the cord doesn't interfere with the movement of the gear selector, but I guess I could secure it to the bottom of the screen if needed.

How is the set-up holding up? Did you orient the "hook" up under the dash leather or down behind the wood? Is either the wood or leather lifting? This seems like a nice clean system, especially if you don't need charging. Thanks
