I would agree. It may be different this time with EVs. Less moving parts, software can be repurposed. I know I am over simplifying. when Rivian takes off, it will drive business plans to tap into the adventure market. Regardless, the next few years will be interesting!

https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a15110265/audi-tt-offroad-concept-photos-and-info-news/ this is the Audi concept from 2014 (I had an '01 TT Roadster, was really interested in this) and that design has been promised for a decade before with the gas engine.

I'd love to see it, especially that more aggressive VW version but they seem to keep showing that design every four or five years, and add more things that aren't coming out for decades to it and never come out with it. The last one was a self driving with 'drones' or some goofy thing in 2019 with that style

Passport / Rodeo at one time was pretty close to interchangeable, and both had issues with frames rotting out kinda like the 4 Runners. The Amigo was cool version that also went the way of the Dodo bird sadly. Cool ideas all though! ?

Yep. I'm killing the joke now, but I don't recall Honda having a Rodeo Sport Variant or V-cross variant.

I totally agree but I think this niche market for adventure vehicles leans more to the built vs bought folks that have specific use case solutions. Some will use established base platforms (Jeeps/MB Sprinters) or custom ground up frames for buggies. Most crawlers will talk your ear off for days if you let them tell their build story.
