My R1T has arrived and I'm ecstatic to say the least! When I discovered the R1T I immediately pre-ordered one, because it was exactly what I was after - A mid-sized, premium 4x4 truck. My 2019 Colorado ZR2 was as close as I could get at the time and it has been a great companion over the years, but eventually the cracks show through. It has a cheap interior, mediocre seats, and a lousy infotainment system. It also has a thirsty V6 and a tall 8 speed transmission that struggles on the highway. It of course makes up for those things with it's locking diffs, Multimatic suspension, and killer looks but I wanted more.
Enter the Rivian R1T. It has the most bad ass combination of everything I was looking for! Better power train, better interior, better suspension, more tech, more features, and it's electric! I absolutely love the exterior design and the Midnight/20" AT combo is just perfectly balanced with Black, silver, and yellow. The Forest Edge interior is gorgeous! This interior is luxury in style, materials, and feel. I'm so glad I went with this color and feel it is the perfect pairing to Midnight. The Rivian staff kept commenting on the color combo also, and hadn't seen it in person until then.
After 200 miles in the R1T, I knew I had made the right choice. The vehicle has met my expectations already and I can't wait to spend more time in it over the coming years. I'm already addicted to the quad motor whine - especially in tunnels! The air ride and active Damping are awesome! Safe to say I'll be letting my ZR2 go to the next owner, and I'm sure I will miss it's character and off-road chops (it will go ANYwhere) but after going electric, there is no going back! I will be an EV only household with our Model 3 Long Range parked beside the R1T. Excited to never visit a gas station again or perform another oil change. Life is good!
I'll be going on some off-road adventures this year and documenting some of it along the way. I'll be sure to share the fun with the forum! Can't wait to utilize the onboard air, auto level camp mode, and all of the accessory power while out in the wild! Adventurous Forever, I can get behind that.
