Why does the Gravity do 0-60 in 3.4s when it has 828 hp?I guess I don't understand why these are so damn big compared to Lucid's motors...not an engineer, so I'm stewpid.

Looks to be about 16 cover bolts and about 13 PCBA bolts. No idea yet of how accessible it is in the vehicle. That is a great observation....how involved is the replacement.
These are motors, inverters, electronics, reduction gear, etc all in one. Lucid and Koenigsegg only tout the motor generally.I guess I don't understand why these are so damn big compared to Lucid's motors...not an engineer, so I'm stewpid.
Which Lucid starts at around $45k?It's an improvement over the Bosch and the Enduro but Lucid Electric Motors still blow these out of the water on about every metric.
Not on COGS, which is what matters. Last I checked Lucid isn't even close to positive contribution margin and that's without the massive capex, service infrastructure, and charging infrastructure that Rivian is cranking out. It's an improvement over the Bosch and the Enduro but Lucid Electric Motors still blow these out of the water on about every metric.
IIR Their motors cost less to build than any of the competition according to them. This was in an investor day or tech day presentation. Not on COGS, which is what matters. Making an exquisite piece of machinery that costs you more to make than it provides in value is not particularly impressive IMO.
I find it very difficult to believe all things considered.IIR Their motors cost less to build than any of the competition according to them. This was in an investor day or tech day presentation.
cool, call them liars thenI find it very difficult to believe all things considered.
They’ve got Saudi money, so they’re not going away just yet. I’ve only seen one or two Lucids in CBUS. I don’t know why they’re not more popular, especially among the rich. I guess sedans just aren’t luxury enough. Maybe the Gravity will make a dent.Hopefully Lucid will survive as a tier 1 auto supplier where the industry can benefit from its designs and does not just get absorbed into a bigger player.
The people who run the Saudi PIF are very savvy and demanding investors who won't throw money away. Lucid's efforts to support the IKTVA (in Kingdom Total Value Added) agenda by putting an assembly plant there has bought them some more time, but the idea that "Saudi money" is some bottomless pit of cash to be had is very wrong. They’ve got Saudi money, so they’re not going away just yet.
