Love this thread. Saw a Matte FR GRN R1T today on dark wheels, in the shade, it almost looked black.

Can I pay you to wrap mine ?Some sharp looking rigs on here!!!
Here is my 2023 Limestone R1S with Hexis Bodyfence matte PPF. I installed the PPF myself... I bought a bulk roll for $950 so while I saved a boatload of money, its not a perfectly flawless job. I think you would be hard-pressed to see any of my mistakes unless you get your face within inches of it in the right spots though (some deep corners). I don't regret saving 8-9k but wrapping with PPF is not for the faint of heart. I had vinyl wrapped a few cars but PPF is MUCH harder. I ended up disassembling more of the car as I gained confidence, which helps a lot. I can always re-wrap a single panel if it gets issues too.
If anyone wants to attempt this themselves, I'm happy to share my advice. I went with Hexis due to the price. XPEL was double for the same size roll. I also wrapped it outdoors in my driveway so not an ideal setup, but I got the wrap on before any dings or scratches so now I feel very protected.
I'm jealous of the other user that installed the satin Thundercloud! I was super tempted to do this exact color (to match my turbo NA miata) myself and wrapping with Vinyl is a breeze compared to the PPF. The bulk roll of vinyl wrap would probably run about $600.
I'm tempted to black out my trim, bumper lowers and wheels but I'm kind of digging the technocar vibe that the brights give. I've also left all of my badges off and am enjoying the "what the hell is that thing?" comments. Tempting to put a Ford logo on the back for more confusion haha.
I asked my guide about this and he said its unlikely they will build the car with it per request. With Rivian now offering a Matte PPF on certain vehicles Im wondering if they would offer that application as a purchase option. I think if my memory serves me that the advertised value they place on the vehicles they are selling with the matte PPF is $5000. That seems to be a very good price for a full wrap. Anyone have any thoughts on Rivian selling Wraps as an option?

Unfortunately, i think when they did the wrap, they did something while installing that caused several gaskets to fail or be misaligned. Plus, the panel above the light bar on both sides of the car "flexes" when pushed in so there's apparently something missing to hold it in place. Reason i found it is that there is some gaps between the hood and gaskets around the hood and fender. The 'factory installed' wrap is one that they do not remove any body parts to complete, but somehow it appears some issues came up during the wrap install. Completely missed at pickup, but been assured they can fix it. Just have to drive 5 hrs down and 5 hours back next Monday to drop it off, then repeat when it's fixed! I do love this truck, and i knew the service center location nightmare, so I'm willing to put up with some degree of inconvenience so long as they take care of the issues.

I pickup my wrapped R1T in Atlanta next week and am bringing it back to NC as well. I'm interested if this is a common problem and plan to look over the vehicle closely on pickup.
If you have any specific tips on what to check for please let me know.
Also, Go Hokies!
Biggest tip i can give is don't be in a hurry to leave just to beat Atlanta traffic! That was my excuse and it cost me a 10 hour drive day yesterday there and back to drop off the new R1T to get the body panel issues fixed and the windshield gasket fixed. (Plus another 10 hr roundtrip later to pick it back up, but God i love this truck!!)

What color did you get. I'm sure you know the trails to go on around Western NC. Would love to learn where you go as i'm looking for some trails to try this summer.
