"Upper Peninsula" - It's a Michigan thing...What is an "UP" charger?
What competition does the RAN provide? We need competition, last thing you would want is for only one company with a DCFC charging network out there.
I just used that one on Sunday! It definitely is not trailer friendly. It also was on the slow side; initially ramped up to about 175 kW, but then dropped to 99. Ended up taking me 50 minutes to charge from 33% to 85%.Living in south-central PA I wasn't really paying attention to this thread, but was glad that I took the time to click the link. I had the Rivian Visualizer plot my upcoming Thanksgiving trip to Cooperstown NY and, lo and behold, there's now a RAN charger just outside of Scranton near the Montage ski resort! It will be a perfect stop for us, especially on the way home. The Visualizer is fun, but it has me charging at the RAN for 15 minutes and arriving in Cooperstown (where charging options are limited) with about 10% SOC. Not so useful!
The RAN in Moosic (Scranton) is interesting as there are three suppliers all in a row:

Doesn't appear to be very trailer-friendly, but that won't affect us, but it will certainly affect others.
I assume this is rhetorical but just in case it is an actual question I will answer. What competition does the RAN provide?
Tesla superchargers have been maintained well with good uptime even before and after RAN started rollout.I assume this is rhetorical but just in case it is an actual question I will answer.
All alternative charging networks provide competition just by being options to Tesla Superchargers. It helps keep prices in check and helps to ensure they are properly maintained.
Rivian in particular offers better pricing than Tesla and equal uptime which in turn pressures Tesla to stay on top. This will add even more pressure as the RAN grows.
If Tesla were to become a true monopoly where no other charging networks existed then they could literally charge whatever they wanted and be lackadaisical about maintaining/growing the sites.
Right now it doesn't but competition is a good thing especially since other chargers (EA, EVGo) are offering a subpar experience or very high costs.Tesla superchargers have been maintained well with good uptime even before and after RAN started rollout.
RAN is so small and so few out there still that it makes no difference.
Thanks for the heads-up...I should be somewhere around 50% when we get there and if I can get to 85% we'll be comfortable doing the remaining 145 miles to our destination (where last year I plugged into the 110V outlet for a whopping 1-2 MPH added to the battery).I just used that one on Sunday! There’s also an EVGo at a Pilot nearby, and a compatible Supercharger in Wilkes-Barre, if you’ve got an adapter. Thanks for the heads-up...I should be somewhere around 50% when we get there and if I can get to 85% we'll be comfortable doing the remaining 145 miles to our destination (where last year I plugged into the 110V outlet for a whopping 1-2 MPH added to the battery).
Thanks - we stopped at the EA charger at the Sheetz in Scranton on the way home last year so that's an option as well. It's always better to have more options than fewer - I'm just really happy to have a RAN on the route! There’s also an EVGo at a Pilot nearby, and a compatible Supercharger in Wilkes-Barre, if you’ve got an adapter.
Same! We stopped at the Wilkes-Barre Supercharger on our way up, mostly so I could confirm my new adapter worked, but I definitely like having a RAN available, so I used it on our way back to Baltimore. Thanks - we stopped at the EA charger at the Sheetz in Scranton on the way home last year so that's an option as well. Nearest charger to me is 30 minutes and are Teslas to the south, and 45 minutes to the north the same.Check out the updated map!

It doesn’t show the new site at Joshua Tree either!
