Good luck trying to do any adventuring in SE Arizona🤦‍♂️

Tucson proper should have one for sure, big miss if not on the future map;

or even somewhere like Oracle (I don't know the area well, but charging closer to trailheads, near existing convenience stores would be my target). The local clubs should submit sites NOT along highways that give access to great adventures. I know electric infrastructure would be the issue though; so they may be premium pay sites, which may not be great optics as you try to convert users, so it would be long term investment; and they can't burn cash on long term, subsidies probably have volume requirements and definitely have open network requirements. I am talking in circles, probably like they are in the meetings to decide where ;)

Dallas finally got one, yay. Not as exciting since we now have access to Tesla superchargers

Especially a monopoly controlled by Musk.
Is it a monopoly when one company innovates way ahead of the industry?

I'm thankful for the Tesla Supercharger in Kayenta, AZ. This makes travel from SW Colorado/east Utah to Grand Canyon NP much easier. I see equal numbers of Rivians and Teslas at this location when I'm charging there.

Because we don't need another Standard Oil situation. Diversity is good and will keep pricing somewhat honest. And the shear number of charging deserts in the Tesla network out west is way too high for NACS access. Most of the installed chargers are V2, which we don't have access to.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Standard_Oil

Specifically I-76...no V3 Tesla stations and no RAN. When I towed the race car out to Eastern Nebraska that stretch from Ft Morgan to Ogallala was horrible. The chargers in Sterling weren't viable because it was two Chargepoint units downtown where a trailer wouldn't have been a good idea, so I had to stretch it around 130 miles.
Yep that stretch is not fun, I drive it a few times a year. Gotten much better with Tesla in North Platte, I can make it from the south Denver burbs to North Platte without charging so I can skip the Fort Morgan and Ogallala EA stations. Tesla is scheduled to put a charger in Sterling so that will help.

I would say Tesla was way ahead of the industry 10 years ago but now there are many charging stations and the aren't innovative, they just provide power.

Nothing in Utah so far. Guess there is no adventure here :-(
Tesla Supercharger Moab, UT
Tesla Supercharger Kayenta, AZ
Free Utah chargers in Monticello, Bluff, UT etc.
New EA chargers at Lions Park, Moab

No reason for Rivian to expand in Moab, given the multiple DC options....

I count 6 "coming soon", east of the rockies. One of those I have been waiting over a year for (Fredericksburg, VA). Hardly "many".

I have to question why continue investing in the Rivian charging system when Tesla has such a lead in that area.
OMG no, Rivian chargers are more or less the cost of electricity, the Tesla ones EVEN after their $13 fee is still quite a bit more and don’t get me started on the did you jump through the correct hoops to get the lower rate because if you didn’t, it’s close to double the cost of a RAN charger.

I have done several trip up and down I5 and at this point I avoid the Tesla chargers if there is a RAN on the route.

Talk about Adventure I'm waiting on a R1S TriMax and trying to figure out how I make it from Boulder, CO to Bozeman MT. I'm hoping that the phone app. gives me more optimistic charging station options to make that 700 mile trip once I've actually taken delivery than what I currently see available on the app. Crossing Wyoming is a long relatively empty journey anytime of year and the winter's snow and hurricane force winds from the west give me pause to attempt it with the so few charging station options. Made the drive many times in an GX450 in winter but the fuel consumption was ridiculous and gas stations common.
Plugshare is your friend. And, check the tesla map at www.tesla.com/nacs for adapter friendly locations.

I just saw about the Tesla SC coming in Sterling...that'll be very nice. Towing was the big ugly since I was only getting about 1.1 mi/kWh.

It bugs me how the map in the app and the map online don’t have the same chargers. In the app there is a charger at Tim’s Ford and Henry Horton, both state parks near me, but the online doesn’t show them. You would think all the maps would pull from the same database.

I checked a better route planner (ABRP). From Boulder you can stop in Casper, and then Billings, then Bozeman. All Tesla SC sites (if you have an adapter. Route: https://abetterrouteplanner.com/?plan_uuid=4b50d7d0-b404-47da-8dc3-aa272452b2bf

Whoops. Last ABRP route I POSTED doesn't work. My bad. This one is more realistic. Make sure you set ABRP to the specs for your truck. https://abetterrouteplanner.com/?plan_uuid=f47157b8-6c38-4420-8acc-6f0fd530ab21

Yeah I saw this route with charging stations (which is the route I usually drive) last evening when I plugged it into Google Maps and was a little puzzled why the Riv phone App. doesn't reflect the same locations.
