I have to question why continue investing in the Rivian charging system when Tesla has such a lead in that area.
Because we don't want a monopoly on charging?

Because I don't want to send a single penny to a company that Gated Rat financially benefits from?

Because RAN locations are way better when towing.

Because it it is almost built. Someone on this forum visited it recently and talked to the workers. I’d say it’s ready before 2025.

There is one coming in Normal, IL near the factory, though! There likely are more coming near national parks, like the Joshua Tree one. They’d make a killing with some near Yellowstone!
I was shocked to see one in Twin Falls, ID. Agree re: Yellowstone and Grand Teton for that matter. Hopefully Utah gets some with the amount of national parks and general adventure they have one would think they'd get some attention.

There is a marginal ChargePoint at Starbucks in Twin Falls. The Tesla station at the Twin Falls Visitor Center is an older V2 site that can’t use the adapters. (Elon: If you can send someone to Mars, you can make V2 chargers work with the adapters!)

The State of Nevada is SCREAMING for a reliable charging network. Wyoming, Southern Utah, Arizona such as Knaab and Page are ADVENTURE PORTALS!

I can do Seattle to Irvine using RAN only, and that's awesome ?. An alternative to Tesla and EA near Leavenworth/Wenatchee would be good. There is nothing east of Seattle till Spokane.

Why hasn’t Rivian opened up its charging stations to other EV’s yet? Just as well make money off the charging stations. I’ve seen more Rivian’s at Tesla superchargers then I have seen Rivian’s at RANs.

Since Rivian like everyone else is switching to NACS charging hopefully they are building the charge stations with with quick ability to swap out the charge cables to the correct connector or just start build new stations with NACS and the current R1’s can just adaptor up to plug into RAN

Also, you might know this already, but they have service centers planned for Woodbridge, Edison, and Trenton areas.
This has been out there for over 2 years I think. I’ll believe it when I see it…

Agreed. I’ve done the trip to Brooklyn a few times since Sept. 2022. It sucks.

Blauvelt NY has a service center now which is similar distance for me as Brooklyn but a much nicer commute than dealing with NYC. Not sure if that helps you from Central NJ though.
I live in north central NJ and picked up at Brooklyn in Sept 23. It was easily 1.5 hours each way. I have a service appt at blauvelt next month but it’s still an hr each way for me. At least it’s a continuous drive, not stop and go like Brooklyn.
In the meantime, I have 3 Mercedes dealerships within 20 mins of me that I can use for service. This is the only regret I have about trading in my Mercedes for my Rivian.

More stations are best. Regardless of the owner. You know, competition helps keep charging prices low, more stations lead to better EV experience for all EV drivers, better EV adoption mean less air pollution and less lung cancer. Nothing here to question. Keep it up Rivian.

We need competition, last thing you would want is for only one company with a DCFC charging network out there.
Also it's potentially a great future revenue stream. If they can fill the gaps from Tesla, maintain the chargers better than the others, it could bring in a steady stream of revenue in the future. Especially if they focus on the "adventure" areas where there may not be much Tesla infrastructure or high traffic; could open the network up for Jeep 4Xe's, Scout, e-trailers... totally different niche than road trips; could most likely charge a premium to maintain them in low use areas, I know I would have paid a premium for a charger in Page, AZ recently.
