I had a fairly bare bones Toyota 4runner SR5 during my first service. It served its purpose of a solid workhorse having to do several runs to get sand bags during a winter storm.

Just dropped my truck off today for service at the new (to me) San Jose service center. They were going to offer me a Kia Niro EV but I noticed a Jeep Gladiator Rubicon on the lot and asked for that instead. Seems pretty loaded and it’s a diesel which is kinda awesome. Drives like a jeep (aka like crap) and is loud as heck…but it’s sunny out today and I have the roof down…and I’m digging it. Kids think it’s pretty awesome as well. I’m sure I’ll be sick of it in about a week.

Before they opened the San Jose SC, SSF sent me to their Enterprise who offered me the Kia Niro that is apparently making the rounds in this thread.

Next to it was a brand new Dodge Challenger, and the kid inside of me who grew up watching the Dukes of Hazzard had to go with that one. Totally not the same experience as the classic charger, but I did a road trip up to Black Sands Beach and had a great time.

Our R1S is in for its 5th service/fix at the service center. As usual Rivian didn’t have any loaners. When we showed up to Enterprise we were surprised to see 3 Rivian R1S on the lot as rental vehicles! We asked to get one of those and they said “those aren’t covered by Rivian, we’d be happy to upgrade you for $150 per day.” 🤦🏼‍♂️

2019 Kia Sorento, base model. Thing was a POS. My neighbor could bike faster up our hill than I could accelerate up our hill. Richmond Service center.

Agent: So you need a full size vehicle?
Me: Anything works, my wife has our van and I just need something to get to work with.
Agent: What about a truck?
Me: That's fine
Agent: How about a Mustang.
Me: Uhhhh
Agent: It will be fun!
Me: That's fine

A few minutes later she takes me out to a 2020 convertible Mustang GT.

Agent: Have fun but not too much. This thing is fast!
Me: My car getting serviced would smoke this thing, but thanks.
Agent: Oh wow. Well here are the keys!

Hindsight I wish I would've asked if they had any electric options however my kids did enjoy riding with the top down for a few days.

2023 Jeep Cherokee (not Grand)... it is horrible and incredibly frustrating to see my R1S sit on the SC (Richmond) lot for 4 days without moving at internal temps of 130F after a 2 month delay to get the appointment when I live 3 miles from the SC and could be driving it around until they are ready to actually look at the car... end rant.

Was this at an airport location, or an Enterprise Exotics location?

Myself and a few local owners in the DC area have been getting R1S loaners from Enterprise, by transferring to a non-airport location (which don’t support negotiated contract rates).

I dropped my R1T off yesterday for intermittent “limited performance enabled” and was given the worst rental I have ever had, a 2021 Nissan Versa with 55,000 miles, a cigarette burn in between my legs on the driver seat, dents and scratches everywhere and dog hair. Enterprise said it was the only car they had. Going to check with my local Enterprise today to see if they have anything better and bigger (can barely fit my family in this tiny thing).

I got an Infiniti Q50, which pre-R1T would be a nice upgrade from what I had (Ridgeline). However, compared to my Rivian, it's trash. Acceleration, passing, on-ramping - all feels laggy and slow. A large contributing (albeit subjective) factor is that my grumpy mid-life crisis-ing neighbor has one of these. I'm sure seeing me drive by yesterday made his day.

The upside is that it has USB audio, with displayed album art and everything! Imagine that.

While I am thankful to have a car to drive, Rivian cannot service my truck fast enough.

Which location? I went to Gaithersburg and the Enterprise there gave me the worst rental I’ve ever had in my life, a Nissan Versa with cigarette burns, dog hair, dents and visible rust. I swapped today for a Cherokee (also not Grand), still undesirable but better. Did you have to pay extra?

I also got a Jeep Cherokee. Quite possibly the worst vehicle I have ever driven, total POS. I’ve had a lot of rentals, Jeeps are always the worst. Luckily I only needed it to get home and back to the SC.
