"Towing update from the chat with them. Trailer Hitch is hidden behind removable panel. It is a 2'' Class V receiver. The R1T's towing capacity is 11,000 pounds and the R1S is 7,700 pounds. Also the trailer hitch receiver and vehicle structure are rated for a tongue weight of 810 lbs..."

Isn't the tongue weight usually at least 10% of the gross trailer weight? So, to tow 11K, the vehicle should be capable of having an 1100 lb+ tongue weight?

That's my understaning... 10% to 15%. Maybe they meant 810 lbs on the R1S for its 7,700 lb rating?

Tongue weight counts towards payload, so that might be why they spec it lower. 5 passengers + gear in the frunk and tunnel + 1100 lbs = too much?

10-15% is the generally accepted range for safe towing here in the US, but there's no statutory minimum and plenty of boat trailers are designed below that (eg ShoreLand'r suggests 5-7%) so there are benefits to maxing out the tow rating in excess of 10X tongue weight. Most of Europe tows at 5-7% but that's generally slower with lighter loads than we typically pull - go lower, tow slower.

The web site no longer shows data for maximum payload for the R1T, I am interested in what the maximum payload is. I also want to know the maximum tongue weight for trailer towing.
Sure thing! Let me get this info for you. Just one moment.
1,764 lbs for that payload. Let me get the tongue weight.
The trailer hitch receiver and vehicle structure are rated for a tongue weight of 1,470 lbs.

Is anybody compiling all this information from CS in an easy to read spec table?

If you are towing 11K trailer, throw all your gear and your kids :CWL: in it to lesson the payload of the vehicle.

You actually want as much load in the vehicle as possible because in the vehicle the inertial and potential loads are largely zeroed out by regen. Those loads for items in the trailer are not.

Really happy to see this update. The 810 lb hitch was going to be a deal breaker. Another thread mentioned an integrated brake controller. I wonder how this will work since using the trailer brakes may reduce your regen. But then you also want to stop. I suppose you can turn down the gain. I will be interested to see how this all works together.

I have not seen any mention of the electrical wiring related to the hitch on the R1T. Does anyone know whether the truck will come pre-wired (assuming the presence of a hitch)? If so, will it be the standard "flat" receiver harness?

It is the round 7 prong, with trailer brake pin and Aux power pin. Those are standard on all trucks nowadays. My horse trailer has a battery for the breakaway emergency brake and that Aux power pin chargers it.

They have not confirmed if the trailer brake controller will be in the truck yet, but it should be.

But, with a tongue weight of 1470lbs, there is only 294lbs left for payload. That is one large person, or two very skinny people.
