Less than 1 month - brick getting towed

My 2025 R1S just hit 1000 miles, I took ownership Aug 30.
Sep 20 I charged, ran a few errands and when I went to pick up my kids I heard multiples chimes going off. Error codes were Motor Fault Detected, all wheel drive permanently engaged, thermal system fault detected, use the brakes to slow down. The car driver – said 0 miles however I knew through my app and having charge that morning I had close to 30 miles.
I did a hard reset while on the phone with Rivian service all of the same alerts came back.
Well, on the phone dealing with setting up a tow truck my car then locked me out of it.
Rivian sent a locksmith to let me in to get my belongings.
When the tow truck driver arrived, both rear blinker lights were flickering.

The tow truck comes to pick up the car tomorrow morning at 9 AM

??‍ I’m sorry this is happening. Rivian will get you fixed up. The thermal fault is usually an issue with the HVAC.

I'm really sorry to hear this. I'm new hear, but everything I read, seems like Rivian is really good at taking care of their customers. Hopefully this is a one time thing. Wishing you the best.

Since you were very low on range I wonder if this led to the 12V draining as well thereby locking you out.

I wasn’t low on range though, I had 225 miles, the car dash just said I had zero for whatever glitch occurred.
tow truck came and got it, so hopefully I will know more bye the end of the day or tomorrow?

Your original post though you said you only had 30 miles.

Damn thats a lot of indicator lights!! I am just starting year #3 and 25,000+ miles with my R1T. Though I have had a few issues, nothing like the Christmas Lights that showed up on your dash. That being said, the service center near me (Richmond Va) has done an excellent job of taking care of me during the smaller issues that I did have. I hope they do the same for you!

with so many computers and so much tech jammed in, small things can trigger a cascade of stuff that is more easily fixed than the the number of warning lights makes it feel like - and I hope that is the case for you.

Sorry to hear you had these issues. From similar reports here in the past, this sometimes happens when the 12 volt battery is failing. The low voltage seems to trigger all sorts of errors in multiple systems. Let us know what your service order shows as the resolution to the problem.

So sorry you have to deal with this. I agree with others who suspect the 12v may have caused this, but whatever it is I hope service can get it back to you quickly.

It seems crazy that with only 1000 miles a battery could go bad, but it happens. My high voltage battery failed at around 9k miles, which is rare but they took care of it very quickly and professionally.

Sorry to hear those issues for you. Many early 2025 vin's have issues with HVAC and some of your faults indicators may suggest a HVAC problem. I had an early 2025 vin (474XX then 473XX) assigned to me only to be withheld by Rivian due to HVAC QC issues. I finally took delivery of 551XX on Aug 30 and so far no issues at about 1K miles.

If you don't mind what are the last 5 digits of your vin?

It will be interesting to see if it was the 12v battery. When mine died, i was locked out so I didn't get to see any faults. It was only on my app.

Yeah I just went to leave and they all went off. It then locked me out, and what’s funny is that my app never communicated any of the faults. It eventually locked me out, and my app said the vehicle is offline offline. ?
