DAIJOBU
You can use your phone as a hotspot and the truck connects to WiFi.They have a different cellular network there don't they? How would it ever see an internet connection?
Don't you need to show proof of owning a parking spot to own a car in Japan?
Give 'em hell, Doolittle.Pilots!!!!!!,
I'll be departing the right side of the road, and heading to Japan, shipping the Rivian on Monday, . . .
Steve
I’m actually in Tokyo right now. I’m vacationing here this month and visiting relatives.Hea Team, haven't been to active on this forum due to work/travel, I'll answer a few (dated questions)
@timf
how will I handle repairs, There's a EV shop in Yokohama that's been in the business since 92, went there when the truck was delivered, to wake up and update. Also some techs came to visit, loaned the truck, and didn't lend the charger adapter, so they wouldn't try and treck up MT Fuji
@linkwpc - yes the roads are super skinny, I'm a crap driver, but been super carful with the Rivian
Parking- japan frowns on more than one vehicle- I bought a dilapidated house, had it bulldozed, and now have a 18 parking stall area, cause my neighborhood, some houses don't have driveways, and all military have to have 2 cars...I can't throw rocks, I have 5 ev's, one constitutes as a moped.
Updates- cell/internet in japan, is not as fast as the US, but its got a wide swath of reach, north
@jjswan33 I went to seattle service center before departure, they had a tech interested in my AZURE van, so he came to port of seattle to help get the truck in sleep/transport.
@Sgt Beavis there is currently demolition of Higashi Heights housing, it's been sitting idle for almost ten years, most of the houses, and lodge are knocked over, that one japanese house in the middle still stands
@PastyPilgrim shinjuku harajuk have been the biggest SAGOI'S, not sure if they made it to instagram, cause I'm banned from there...
Lastly, I been traveling a bunch for work and what not since aug. a buddy that is stationed at Atsugi NAS is heading to Whidbey Island, and was solid on wanting to purchase. It's a truck...a Big truck, and I haven't used it as well it deserved, so he made me an offer, and it heads back to Washington state on the 29th of Nov 2024.
I've loved EV's since 2010, and been sole electric since 2016, I really hope great things for both Tesla and Rivian, cause both are sticking it to the US car builders that keep saying it's a fad...fads don't last this long.
Since Tesla did open up the super chargers to everyone else, I did get a CCS/Tesla Adapter, and used once, cause we are taking a trip where there's no Tesla chargers for 100 miles, and a mountain pass, but chademo every 50 miles
I have a reservation for an R3, that is sexy and the right size for Japan. Mitzubishi just renewed a KEI-van with 120 Mile range, CHADEMO, may get it...may not.
if you're coming to japan

I was in Sapporo just a few days ago, visiting my Mother and Father in Laws. My eyes were bugging out from all the Suzuki Jimny’s running around.Get over to Hokkaido. The food there is amazing, especially the seafood and dairy products. Hiroshima is a very enlightening visit, esp the Hiroshima Peace Memorial museum. Really interesting seeing the event explained from their point of view.
