"Normal" Hard to say, because they (Rivian) are still pretty new at all this...I have not paid them anything in terms of down payment and financing is pre-approved, but technically not sure I have even bought the vehicle yet, maybe contractually I have to some extent...and I have a Rivian Charger sitting in a box in a hallway. So normal-ish?

Yeah I got my charger shipped and installed 3 days after picking an R1S from the shop in January… I still don’t have the car though.

Charger ships when you have a VIN, per my guide. I don’t think I’d started any steps when mine got on its way, though the purchase process was open.

Just got my 8 Step email, I'll be starting it tonight and I'll let you know my R1S vin as well.

EDIT: My vin is 54XX 21' FG/BM with Shield

EDIT #2: I completed the first 7steps just waiting on them to approve the documents. But if anyone cares, my insurance had to manually add the vehicle because the VIN was only available in the national registry. But They quoted me $710 for 6 months, while Rivian quoted me $1100!

I had a guide call last week and was told "this is the way" (at least for Canada, sounds like for US now too). They will ship as soon as a VIN is assigned - told me it will arrive about a week after - well ahead of delivery.
