I didn't get a chance to look... I was too distracted by all the Rivians on the lot, then got called in early for my delivery.

I was assigned 77xx today. Considering that a lot of people are seeing 8xxx now, does that mean that mine was sitting around (and do I need to worry)? I did NOT choose from the R1T Shop.

I wouldn't sweat this too hard. Pretty common practice at all OEM's right now to be parking vehicles out of general assembly for a couple of weeks. Some even longer that are waiting on chipsets or other parts that are on the way.

Ive also personally seen fully assembled vehicles shipped out to SC's for delivery that have gotten scratched or damaged and will sit for weeks waiting for replacement parts. For example, a tailgate or wheel that was scratched.

I picked mine 2 weeks ago from the shop and i was assigned 77xx too.

Yes, it makes sense.... But I think this is the situation that concerns most owners when they are assigned a VIN that's significantly out of range with other current deliveries. It would go a long way to comfort owners if Rivian was forthcoming in these situations by disclosing the actual reason for the out of range VIN, but that doesn't seem to be the case and just leads to (mostly negative) speculation.
