I'm currently shopping for a level 2 adapter, and I want to make sure that I get something that's high quality and won't burn down my r1s. But I also don't want to throw money away

Here's the debate that I'm having...

The "known brand" (Lectron) is $130.

That seems incredibly overpriced to me, given that the adapter that goes the other direction that Tesla sells is $50 directly from Tesla. And we all know that direct from manufacturer is way more expensive than it needs to be.

There are a few options from brands that I've never heard of that are more in line with the pricing of the Tesla one. Like this one

Does anyone have experience with other brands besides Lectron? I want something high quality and safe, but a $100 premium this is not something I'd like to pay if I don't need to.

Charging Adapters (North America) Get it now - A2Z EV

EDIT:
I'll add that I have the Lectron one with no issues - bought it in mid 2022
used to connect to the wife's Tesla home charger
I posted this link simply because the DCFC unit is so popular with forum users

I've been using this one since June. I've shoved hundreds of kwh through it:

Feels high quality. As you said, these are not magical devices, and the Tesla branded one for J1772 >> NACS is only $50, so that was my baseline for a "good" adapter.

I have had a few sessions with it where the charge has derated, but I'm not ready to chalk that up to the adapter. Some of those sessions have been very hot, and others have been on very old wiring. My last session using it had no problems on my friend's Tesla HPWC.

I bought the Lectron adapter and gave that one away to a local member.

I personally prefer the A2Z Stellar adapter which has better pricing @ $88, compact, has a built in lock, good customer service / warranty and overbuilt for futureproofing.

A2Z Stellar Adapter NACS to J-1772 for Destination and Home charging. This adapter literally pays for itself

Feel free to use the forum discount code “RIV” to save $$$ and get free shipping too.

Ah rats! I just ended up ordering the A2Z without promo code haha

I made the realization that in part probably the reason that the nacs to j1772 might be more expensive is because it's rated at 80 amps rather than 60

A2Z has very good customer service. Shoot them an email and ask if they will apply the forum discount code "RIV" for you.
